Coliseum

coliseum

Coliseum | place | Built in 1968, the [Pacific] Coliseum at 100 North Renfrew was the home of the Vancouver Canucks from 1970-1995. It is most famous for being turned into a lake of tears on May 16th, 1982, when it played host to Mike Bossy and his New York Islanders as they defeated the Canucks in the Stanley Cup Finals. Though the Canucks won Game 3 there in the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals against the New York Rangers, we went on to lose the series in the Big Apple. Also infamous for the Justin Timberlake/Christina Aguilera show that was canceled in 2003 (but who gives a frack about that). Despite some Olympic victories for Canada under its roof during the 2010 Winter Games, it is still thought to be a cursed venue.

Pronunciation: “Call-ihs-ee-um”

Usage: “I will never go back to the Coliseum again”.
