A Happy Mother’s Day Q&A With The Founder Of YoyoMama.ca

atk

It’s Mother’s Day and we thought this would be the perfect time to do a Q&A with one of Vancouver’s busiest Mom’s, Annemarie Tempelman-Kluit.

Annemarie is the mother of two girls, an author and a web strategist. She is the founder of yoyomama.ca, a daily email for Lower Mainland mums which she launched when she couldn’t find the info and products she wanted locally. She’s also the author of Healthy Mum, Happy Baby: How To Feed Yourself When You’re Breastfeeding Your Baby, which was published by Random House in 2007. She found time between manning her booth at EPIC Sustainable Living Expo, writing her wildly popular daily email (and obsessively checking twitter) to answer a few questions for Scout…

Three things about Vancouver that make you feel like a kid: Going to the beach with the kids in the summer and getting food at the concession, Granville Island and the outdoor swimming pool at Maple Grove Park.

Three words that describe your Mother: My biggest fan.

Best Vancouver park: Well the one across the street from our house is our most-visited park, but Douglas Park is great.

One thing (other than homelessness) you’d like to change about Vancouver: Traffic. Less of it.

Favourite place to buy books: Vancouver Kidsbooks and Barbara Jo’s Books to Cooks.

Cheap place for dinner (with kids): Rocky Mountain Pizza Factory, but if they’re too busy then the Flying Wedge.

Cheap place or dinner (without kids): Not cheap per se, but when we get out without the kids we love to go to Les Faux Bourgeois, which I’d describe as “reasonable” rather than cheap.

Favourite Vancouver bridge: Burrard Street bridge.

Favourite scent: Lavender.

If you could rename yourself: I’d have a middle name.

Your ancestry: Dutch and English.

Book you’re reading: I’m mortified to admit that I’ve finally succumbed and I’m reading Twilight.

Ice cream flavour: As chocolaty as you can get.

Food your mom makes better than anyone: Lemon Loaf.

Talent you wish you possessed: Being musical, on any level.

Sport you gave up: Rowing.

Mac or PC: Both.

Three websites you visit every day: www.laineygossip.com, www.twitter.com (well, through tweetdeck) and www.facebook.com. And yoyomama.ca and yoyobelly.ca (of course!).

The first three things you do every morning: Struggle out of bed, make my kids a morning snack and put the kettle on for tea.

The thing you’re addicted to: Right now it’s twitter.

Favourite book as a child: The Wolves of Willoughby Chase by Joan Aiken…
