Gastown’s Award-Winning “Boneta” Set To Re-Open With Chef Jason Leizert At Stoves

I’ve been jonesing for a drink at Boneta since Valentine’s Day, but you may have noticed that it’s been closed. You may have also noticed that back at the end of July we broke the news that the Gastown icon would close at the end of February and re-open in a space nearby. I’ve been asked if that is what’s going on, and the answer is yes and no. The restaurant is moving, but not for a couple of months at the very least. In fact, Boneta will reopen on Thursday evening in its original address, complete with new chef.Jason Leizert, who has been picked up off waivers after the closure of The Corner Suite Bistro De Luxe early last month left him out of work. As for chef and co-owner Jeremie Bastien, he is taking a lengthy sabbatical traveling around Asia and Australia. For how long? Maybe over a year. He remains a partner, and it is his privilege to return at his leisure. Many of his original dishes will stay on the new menu, which is to be introduced as a work in progress on Thursday. The concept remains an idiosyncratic hybrid of French bistro and West Coast modern, and the drinks…well…they’re the drinks.

About Au Petit Chavignol
In March of 2009, Alice and Allison Spurrell, owners of les amis du FROMAGE, along with Joe Chaput, opened the doors to Au Petit Chavignol, a 36 seat cheese and wine bar located at 845 East Hastings Street in Vancouver’s historic Strathcona neighbourhood, next to their newest location of les amis du FROMAGE. Opening to rave reviews, the restaurant has been a great success and a welcome addition to the les amis du FROMAGE family.
Au Petit Chavignol is a cheese-centric restaurant, with additional hot and cold selections including fresh seasonal salads, fondue, raclette, tartiflette, croque monsieur and other cheese based specialties. We make everything fresh daily and in-house. We offer the best selection of cheeses along with local artisan and house made charcuterie.
Whether you desire something small to nibble on before or after an event, or perhaps a full meal, Fromager Joe Chaput and Chef Brad Miller are sure you will leave satisfied. Come and EAT, DRINK and EXPLORE with us.
We offer several wines by the glass and bottle, along with bottled and draught beer. Our reserve wine list is made up of wines that vary from familiar to the obscure; to cheese friendly favourites and our favourite varietal…Riesling. Several of the “by the bottle” wines can be ordered by the glass if you commit to ordering at least two glasses.
Although the restaurant is currently only open five nights a week, we plan to have the restaurant open seven nights a week starting sometime in early September 2009.

About Adesso
A Ligurian-concept restaurant owned by Carol Gadsby and Luciano Loi, Adesso Bistro is now open in its new space at 1906 Haro Street. Formerly located in Kitsilano, the restaurant relocated to Vancouver’s vibrant and scenic West End neighbourhood in May 2010.
An intimate 60-seat garden-level space, ideally located near Stanley Park, the restaurant is the perfect neighbourhood enclave for entertaining friends and family. When the sun shines, Adesso’s 40-seat outdoor patio offers an unbeatable al fresco dining experience with a unique urban view amid lush plants and abundant floral displays.
The Italian word adesso means now. At Adesso, ‘now’ refers to modernity and freshness in the impassioned culinary approach and careful hand-picked ingredients. The ‘now’ sentiment echoes throughout Adesso’s menu and interior design. Guests can experience the ever fresh, contemporary take on traditional dishes with Italy’s Liguria region as inspiration. This region is often lauded for its pesto, focaccia, and delicious seafood fare.
Executive Chef Sean Sylvestre, has crafted a menu with a variety of small plates and multiple courses, designed to provide guests with an authentic Italian experience. Antipasti choices include Bison Carpaccio with beet vinaigrette, Oysters in a red wine mignonette, and thin-crust Pizzas. Inaugural entrée dishes showcase an enticing array from land and sea, such as Braised Berkshire Pork Short Ribs alla Genovese, Pacific Halibut all’ Acqua Pazza, and dry-aged Pemberton Meadows Strip Loin. Hearty pasta selections include Linguine alle Vongole and Risotto al Radicchio e Gorgonzola.
Pastry Chef Jason Pitschke presents a dessert menu of decadence. Treats include Milk Chocolate and Ricotta Canoli Crumble and Fragola with Macerated Strawberry.
Adesso’s wine program plays a large role in the guest experience. The wine list focuses primarily on Italian offerings, however, well-chosen bottles from around the world and gems from local wineries are also available – including by the half bottle and glass.
Open for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, Adesso guests savour Smoked Salmon Scrambled Eggs, House-Made Granola with creamy yogurt, or Poached Eggs atop Focaccia paired with Mimosas, Bellinis and Champagne cocktails.
