Slip in casual to refuel neighbourhood restaurant and bar to comfortably celebrate Valentine's Day

News from Scout supporter Refuel

Vancouver BC | refuel neighbourhood restaurant & bar, the West 4th Avenue eatery specializing in casual Northwest cuisine, announces a special menu created for Valentine’s weekend.

From February 12-14, refuel owners Robert Belcham and Tom Doughty invite guests to relish a romantic three-course or four-course menu that reflects refuel’s emphasis on affordable and honest, down-to-earth Northwest fare.

After savouring the ultimate aphrodisiac—a fresh local oyster amuse bouche—guests will linger over delicious dishes that celebrate the highest quality local, seasonal ingredients. Dishes include creamy onion soup, roasted bone marrow, crispy Humboldt squid, wild BC salmon, hand rolled potato gnocchi and Sloping Hills pork.

The ultimate dinner for two? Opt for a whole polderside duck or an 18oz 35-day dry aged ribeye steak. And because no romantic dinner is complete without something sweet, the dessert list highlights a trio of decadent choices, including peanut and chocolate parfait with honeycomb, cheesecake with house preserves, or apple and pear crostada with sour cream ice cream.

The three-course menu is $49 per person and the four-course menu is $59 per person (see complete menus below). Refuel’s regular à la carte dinner menu is available February 12th and 13th but not on the 14th. Call 604-288-7905 to reserve. Menus and further details after the jump… Read more

First Look Inside West 4th’s New “Refuel” Restaurant And Bar…

As regular readers are aware, Kitsilano’s Fuel restaurant served its last customer last night. There was little time for ceremony, however, as its metamorphosis into Refuel, a casual and significantly less expensive operation, is slated for quick turnaround. Opening dinner service is in two days. Wednesday.

From what I saw tonight they’ve already achieved plenty. The menu also seems very much squared away, together with a fat new selection of quality hard-to-hook-up beers (I did enough product sampling to disorient a bear). Read more

The New Logo For Kitsilano’s Refuel, Soon To (Re)Open On 4th

refuel-restaurant-vancouverScout broke the news a couple of weeks ago that Kitsilano’s award-winning Fuel Restaurant was going to go under the same reconstructive surgery that saw Parkside and Gastropod rebranded as L’Altro Buca and Maenam.

It has since closed, and now will transmogrify into Refuel, a casual restaurant of refined comforts at accessible price points. It opens on Wednesday (that’s the new logo to the left).

Times are tough, and when the going gets tough, the tough adapt. If they don’t, well…they die, and dying isn’t very tough, is it?  The change is a smart, necessary move, and the new food menu looks mighty fine, making Refuel a story of prudence I’m particularly looking forward to reading eating.
