With eighteen high-def screens, a glowing cocktail bar, delicious Italian-style pizzas and an impressive beer list, the stylish downtown eatery is the place to catch all the NHL action.
During the 2010-2011 hockey season, which runs until April 9th, Red Card Sports Bar + Eatery hopes to raise upwards of $5,000 to benefit the Canucks Autism Network (CAN). Two dollars from each $17 NHL charity pizza sold during the regular hockey season will be donated to CAN. Aptly named, the Hat Trick pizza is topped with spicy sausage, sopressata, bacon and mozzarella. Throughout the NHL season, Red Card will feature sleeves of Stanley Park 1897 Ale for $3.50. Read more

Vancouver, BC | Award-winning UVA Wine Bar, located in the chic Moda Hotel, is pleased to announce the expansion of its menu with a range of Italian-inspired breakfast and lunch fare. Espresso bar by day, wine bar by night, UVA was named the Gold recipient in the Best Bar/Lounge category at the 2010 Vancouver magazine Restaurant Awards.
Guests are invited to savour seasonal ingredients in Chef Neil Taylor’s daily lunch features (think local fish and fresh pasta), or tuck into a three-course set lunch for $26.00. The à la carte menu showcases dishes such as agnoli stuffed with chicken and smoked pancetta, sage butter and parmesan, roast sockeye salmon, rapini and vin cotto and vanilla pannacotta with blueberries and grappa. As with the dinner menu in Cibo Trattoria, the menu changes daily with Italian inspired dishes made with same-day fresh and local ingredients. Lunch is served Monday through Friday from 11am – 2pm.
Along with its new lunch offerings, UVA has also introduced an Italian breakfast menu available from 7am – 11am Monday through Friday, and on Saturday and Sunday from 7am – 2pm. Dishes such as pannetone french toast with bourbon barrel aged maple syrup and prosciutto di san danielle with bio-dynamic eggs can be savoured. And because no Italian caffè would be complete without espresso, UVA is pleased to serve Caffè Umbria’s Gusto Crema Blend, a classic Italian medium roast. Read more

Gooaal! Andreas Wechselberger (Ex-CinCin) Arrives At Red Card…

We’re very stoked to announce that Andreas Wechselberger has landed at Red Card. He was one of the city’s top toques when he ran the kitchen at CinCin a couple of years back, and has most recently been perfecting the art of sausage making at Oyama. A fine score, to say the least, and just what the doctor ordered for the place.
I reviewed – not altogether too kindly – the newish, Euro-themed sports bar in the paper last month, loving just about everything but the food, which didn’t meet my mid-to-high expectations. Landing a big fish like Wechselberger – whose Italian cuisine chops are super solid – is a solid step in the very direction I was hoping for, a move that has the potential to bring Red Card up to the level one would expect from a property umbilically associated with the Moda Hotel (which also houses Uva Wine Bar and the critically acclaimed Cibo Trattoria).
