Oh My Goodness We’re All Going To Totally Die, Volume #671

December 17, 2009

Hot damn! A chicken suited busker playing a Pianica puts some funk into Haddaway’s irredeemably awful “What Is Love” mega-track from 1993. He lays down layer after layer for the first little while, but it pays off after three minutes or so. The chicken’s get-yer-groove-on version has been in my head non-stop for three days and nights. Once it gets in yours it means oh my goodness we’re all going to totally die.

PS. the Flock of Seagulls dork who says “so awful” at 2:35 needs a serious punch in the haircut.

On The Scout Ipod: Seer Believer By Norway’s “The White Birch”

The White Birch | Seer Believer | SOURCE

The White Birch believes in music that is made like diamonds putting time and endurance into the pressing of mountains of coal into intensely focused drops of honest nature, and then polishing it with handicraft and love into a human expression of beauty to produce something that will last.

Those kooky Norwegians with their white hair. The baby, toddler, boy, teen, man shown growing up on camera is lead singer Ola Fløttum. Dig it.

On The Scout Ipod: The Best Tiny Venue “Live” Acoustic Gig, Ever

Michelle tuned me into this late in 2008, and I think I may have posted it on Scout before, perhaps in the Daily Viral. Nevertheless, it was the song of our recent Outstanding Road Trip, and I can’t get it out of my head. “It” is Bon Iver performing Skinny Love in front of twenty people with candles and wine inside a small Montemartre apartment in Paris. I really hope you find it as pretty dang electrifying as I do. Read more

Conor Oberst And The Making Of The Mystic Valley Band…

It might take a while to stream for weak connections, but it’s a great, hour long documentary and well worth whatever wait (start downloading and then boil your kettle). It tells the tale of Conor Oberst and the formation of the Mystic Valley Band, so pretty much better than whatever’s on TV. Read more
