Vancouver, BC | What will you be bringing to the table this summer? Summer is in full swing and is being served up hot at the seasonal edition of The Irish Heather’s popular Long Table Series. Every Sunday and Monday night at 7:00pm, Gastown’s favourite gastropub hosts up to 50 people at their 40-foot long communal table, for a satisfying social dining experience with a seasonal twist. Every week brings new people to the table – tourists and locals alike. Don’t be shy; it’s time to take a seat and get cozy with your new neighbour!

Bringing together friends old and new, the Long Table Series was originally created as an alternative dining experience when the recession was biting hard and the unique ‘home away from home’ experience has endured at a great price. For only $16 (including an artisan beer), you get a hearty “Sunday Dinner” style meal that is sure to be Mom-approved.

The new lineup of LTS dinners will kick off Sunday August 11th with a delicious Sunday Roast: Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Potatoes and Gravy. New to the Long Table Series is “Meatless Mondays”, part of a campaign supported through Vancouver’s food policy council that calls on people to forego meats one day per week. On Monday August 12th, the first LTS Meatless Monday will feature a vegetarian and vegan menu: White Bean and Mushroom Croquette with Red Pepper Coulis, Pickled Mushroom and Local Lettuce Salad.

Upcoming Long Table Series events include Sunday Roasts & Meatless Mondays on August 11, 12, 18 & 19. Stay tuned for some upcoming Pit for Your Supper events (peaches in August) and some Wild Card LTS events (think Whiskey & wine). The Irish Heather is located at 212 Carrall Street, Vancouver BC. Email reso [at] irishheather.com to reserve a spot at the table for only $16 per person (including an artisan beer) + taxes and gratuities. The GOODS from The Irish Heather

Vancouver, BC | There are very wonderful beers being brewed by Scottish brewery Innis & Gunn. The Irish Heather is one of the few in the city to feature them on tap. What makes Innis & Gunn so interesting is that their beer is aged in whiskey barrels, giving it a delicious flavor and beautiful color. When we learned that a pal who works for Innis & Gunn in Edinburgh was coming here on vacation we jumped at the chance to have her host one of the Long Table Series dinners. On Tuesday, the 11th September, our friend Leila Arfa will introduce you to a special 2 course Innis & Gunn LTS. In addition to a pint of the classic Innis & Gunn poured at the Heather, Leila has brought a real treat: “Treacle Porter” - for the first time in Canada (not yet available for sale). Menu and details after the jump… Read more

Gastown's Irish Heather to host Whisk(e)y-paired dinners as part of the popular Long Table Series

News from Scout supporter The Irish Heather

In keeping with the notion that you can’t get enough of a good thing, we are announcing a further development in our Long Table Series, the LTS Whisk(e)y Event. Our first in this new series – “The Sazerac Supper” – involves a fantastic line up of Bourbon Whiskey. If the LTS is all about eating and drinking in a recession, LTS Whisk(e)y continues the theme with a “cheap as chips” price of $40 (plus tax & service) for a main course, dessert, cocktail to start and tasting of four great Bourbons. As with everything else LTS, we’ll keep offering it until you stop coming! Full details after the jump… Read more
