The Edible Canada Speaker Series is a lineup of topical food and beverage seminars held afternoons throughout DOV in the private room of the Bistro. We’ve invited our friends specializing in beer, wine, sake, cheese, chocolate and more to come and share their passion with guests in a small, interactive environment (with many opportunities to eat and drink). GOODS: Okanagan Crush Pad Releases Edible Canada’s Signature “Market Red”

Vancouver, BC | The team at Edible Canada was honoured to work with Okanagan Crush Pad to craft a special wine for the bistro. OCP Winemaker Michael Bartier worked with Edible’s management team to come up with 100 cases of a beautiful blended red wine made from Gamay Noir grapes grown at Secrest Mountain Vineyards in Oliver and Syrah grapes from the Cerqueira Vineyard on the Black Sage Bench.
Suitably named Market Red, the thoughtfully designed label depicts a detailed sketch of Granville Island and the public market, home to Edible Canada’s headquarters (you can make out the Bistro under the Granville Bridge on the back label). The wine will be available by the glass and bottle at the Bistro, as well as at a few select private wine stores in Vancouver.

Vancouver, BC | Edible Canada’s own Chef Tom Lee was chosen by BC Place Stadium, Centerplate and Chef Ryan Stone to be the second guest chef featured on the suites menu for the 2012 season. From August 15th until September 29th BC Place offers suite holders a menu featuring bacon themed dishes created by Chef Lee. As an added bonus, suite holders who order from these menus will be placed in a draw to win a $250 gift certificate for Edible Canada at the Market.
Chef Lee’s menus change with the season and feature products from vibrant aisles at the market on Granville Island. Our brand new Coast to Coast – A Canadian Tribute to Bacon menu at our take-out window caught the eye of Chef Ryan Stone, and Lee was asked to share some of his popular bacon dishes with BC Place. Chef Ryan noted that he is “a big fan of your concept at Edible Canada, and am committed to utilizing and promoting local, sustainable products as much as possible at the stadium.”
The unprecedented popularity of the Tribute to Bacon window is based on the current global infatuation with bacon. All of the dishes highlight culinary traditions and fresh ingredients from here to Halifax with regionally inspired bacon-themed dishes. Selected items at BC Place include Bacon & Duck Rillette Poutine Canadian cheese curds, caramelized onions; BLLT – Bacon, Lettuce, Lobster & Tomato Bacon aioli, heirloom tomatoes, butter lettuce, brioche roll; and the Bacon Dessert Trio featuring Kitchening & Co. salted bacon macaroons, Fraser Valley Gourmet bacon almond butter crunch, and bacon ice cream with maple drizzle. Vancouver, BC | Together with Sealegs Kayaking, Edible Canada has tweaked the incredibly popular Gourmet Kayaking Weekends for Summer 2012, giving guests even more little luxuries on a truly memorable adventure. The weekend gastronomic getaways are spent paddling through the stunning Gulf Islands, where fine wines and gourmet food are featured, alongside river otters, bald eagles, and harbour seals. After full days on the water, and full tummies, guests enjoy camping under the stars on a beautiful isolated beach.
Your chef and kayak guides will produce locally-sourced gourmet meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with menus designed by Edible Canada’s culinary team. Planned dishes this year include Bacon Cinnamon Bun French Toast, Albacore Tuna Nicoise and Gourmet ‘Smores with Bourbon Marshmallows. All dinners are paired with local wines and spirits. This year we’re welcoming members of the Heiss family from Kelowna’s Gray Monk Winery on the August 10-12 weekend. They will be joining the trip and bringing bottles and stores to share.
These weekends have sold out over the past 5 years, and are open to guests of all paddling ability.
