The GOODS from Dockside
Vancouver, BC | While the calendar still stays “Spring”, Summer is definitely in the air and Dockside Restaurant & Brewing Company is excited to announce the release of the summer seasonal brews from in our in-house brewery. Both of these beers are a perfect accompaniment to time spent on Dockside’s patio, voted “Best in Vancouver” in the 2012 Georgia Straight Golden Plate Awards.
The Haupental Hefeweizen was tapped earlier this week and is already being poured fresh daily in the restaurant and lounge. This classic, unfiltered German-style wheat beer is a great summer drink—in a traditional Hefe-style, it balances a low hoppiness with bursts of fruit and spice notes. It’s perfect for pairing with a wide variety of summer tastes like avocado, tomato and fruit salads.
This Friday, Dockside’s other seasonal, our famous Jamaica Lager, will be tapped—just in time for the Victoria Day long weekend. Contrary to what many think Jamaica Lager doesn’t have any connection a Caribbean recipe, it’s actually based on a traditional Mexican soda made with Hibiscus flowers, called “flores de Jamaica” in Mexico. Like the soda, our Jamaica Lager (pronounced hai-may-ca) is infused with Hibiscus flowers giving it a unique pink colour and subtle floral nose and flavour. While we love our IPA and Ales, nothing goes better with a hot summer day than a pint of Jamaica Lager. Details after the jump… Read more

Vancouver, BC | For some time now, we’ve received requests to add an IPA to our beer list but when you make all your own beer, adding something to the menu isn’t as simple as placing an order. As it has with every new beer at Dockside Restaurant, adding an IPA meant that our brewing team Craig Ludtke and Mark Simpson spent months working through the development and testing process until the recipe was ready for brewing.
We’re very pleased to announce that the first IPA brew is now complete and we’re ready to launch it to the public just in time for Vancouver Craft Beer Week. Made using “Falconer’s Flight”, a Northwest IPA-specific hop blend from Hopunion, the IPA has a lovely deep gold colour and a great flavour profile that leads with hops and is balanced with floral notes for a great nose and just enough sweetness to round out the taste.
But, the one thing the IPA doesn’t have is a name, so we’re running a contest between now and the end of Vancouver Craft Beer Week to name it. The details after the leap… Read more

The Dockside Restaurant offers superbly prepared classic dishes in a setting like no other. Located on the waterfront where Granville Island faces the city, guests can enjoy panoramic views across False Creek to the world-famous cityscape of Yaletown and beyond to the mountains of the North Shore.
The open dining room is relaxed yet refined, wrapped in spectacular floor to ceiling windows, while the lounge offers warm intimate surroundings for evening cocktails. The award-winning patio catches sunlight from morning to late afternoon. Protected on three sides it’s an oasis of calm, disturbed only by the occasional sound of boats making their way along False Creek. Recent renovations have added fireplaces and casual seating areas to this Vancouver destination.
These three venues offer seating options that are perfect for groups from 4 to 200. With signature elements like a 50-foot aquarium and an open kitchen, each meal is an experience for all the senses. Located adjacent to the boutique Granville Island Hotel, the Dockside Restaurant is open seven days a week serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reservations are recommended.
“This is our very favorite place. We drive into town from Delta and make an evening of browsing through Granville Isl. Market. The restaurnat is perfect for a quiet evening.View is wonderful. I appreciate the spacious arrangement of the tables. We have our favorite table, the staff and service is fabulous. I had the herb crusted Halibut – it was delicious and my husband enjoyed the slate fish. It was a memorable evening. We look forward to another visist very soon. As well, we have enjoyed the great patio – has to be one of Vancouver’s best.” OpenTable.com
“We have going to Vancouver for many years and most recently (if twenty years can be considered recently) staying exclusively at the wonderful Graville Island Hotel. Because we have an aversion to hotel restaurants, this is the first time we have had dinner there. It was one of the finest dinners we have in a city that is known for its fine restaurants. Outstanding in every way!” OpenTable.com
“We enjoyed the welcoming feel of the restaurant – appropriate lighting, comfortable seating – it is like a comfortable dining room. We will return again as the restaurant has once again met our expectations. The salmon was nicely prepared and the lamb was well presented and excellent on the tongue. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.” OpenTable.com
