The news, which should be made official any day now, comes shortly after it was announced that the downtown hotel’s chef of several years, Dino Renaerts, was on his way out to run West Van’s Fraiche and Crave Beachside.

West Vancouver, BC | Local top chef Dino Renaerts makes an exciting move to replace chef Wayne Martin at the helm of Fraîche Restaurant and Crave Beachside. The acclaimed hilltop restaurant and seaside eatery, loved by locals and critics alike, are now in the hands of Renaerts – one of the few born, raised, trained and celebrated Vancouver chefs.

“I’m really looking forward to doing something new, somewhere new,” says Renaerts. “The food at Fraîche has been impeccable since Wayne Martin opened its doors in 2007 and it’s going to be fun and challenging to add my own twist to the menu and wine program.” Dino Renaerts comes to West Vancouver from his latest post as Executive Chef for Diva at the Met in the Metropolitan Hotel. Rob Feenie’s Great Big Comeback At The 2009 Gold Medal Plates

“Comeback” might be a bit of a loaded word, but it fits to an arguable degree. After Rob Feenie left his eponymous Feenie’s restaurant and flagship Lumiere two years ago and landed as the Food Concept Architect for the Cactus Club chain, it could have easily been assumed that he had bought a one way ticket to the wilderness of the restaurant world. But last night, at the prestigious Vancouver Gold Medal Plates cooking competition, he bested nine of BC’s greatest chefs and reminded this town of his incredibly refined talent by taking gold. Confirmed: Jeff Van Geest To Diva At The Met

We had this up as hearsay last week but it’s now confirmed. Former Aurora Bistro owner/chef Jeff Van Geest signed on the dotted line with Diva at the Met today to become Dino Renaerts’ executive sous/restaurant chef. His first day is tomorrow.
