Vancouver, BC | On Friday, October 29, Le Gavroche will welcome Gildas d’Ollone of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande for a very special evening of rare wines, exquisite food and fabulous company.

Last April, during the Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival, Mr. d’Ollone was scheduled present his wines at Le Gavroche – an event that sold out within hours. However, as all flights from Europe were grounded due to the volcanic eruption, he was unable to attend. Le Gavroche is very pleased to now be able to welcome Mr. d’Ollone for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of fine French food and wine.

Guests will enjoy a seven-course dinner, prepared by Executive Chef Rob Guest, which will be paired with twelve extraordinary wines, including some rare selections from Château Pichon Comtesse de Lalande as well as a surprise “mystery wine.” Read more

Tea & Two Slices: Float Planes & The Future Of Neighbourhoods

424623350_b94e744ebd_b

by Sean Orr | BR writer Farhan Devji likes Nickelback but didn’t like their numerous references to alcohol and drugs. Wow, it took a lot sooner for BR to spiral into a weird first-year-english-student-minoring-in-religious-studies blog than I thought it would.

Residents take dead aim at float planes. Whoa sweet, you can do that?

“The Coal Harbour Residents’ Association wants the city to refuse a two-year extension application to allow float planes to operate in front of their homes”. Also, I moved in right next to the Steam Clock but now the noise drives me crazy and the steam ruins my view. Is there anyway we can kill that too?

New report recommends 30-kilometre-per-hour speed limit for Vancouver’s Hastings Street. That’s right. Slow down and see the misery unfold in front of your eyes like it was in slow motion. Lock your doors, sit back, and fucking cruise. Read more
