id="more-39567">

Dockside’s anniversary year has been an exciting one highlighted by the completion of a major two-year patio renovation. Dockside’s beloved patio was completely reimagined with the addition of an elegant gazebo for Vancouver’s most scenic al fresco dining experience along with new open air fireplaces and casual seating areas. Reviews have been unanimous in praise for the new patio and accolades have flowed in from Vancouver Magazine, the Georgia Straight, the Vancouver Sun, Granville Magazine and many others.

“This has been a great year for the Dockside Restaurant and we’re looking forward the celebrating the year and the anniversary on October 27th”, said General Manager Glenn Cormier. “Even though summer has come to an end, we’re excited for a busy fall with Culture Days this coming weekend, the Vancouver Writers Festival and the continuation of our popular Jazz & Blues Brunch through the end of October.”

Along with a selection of appetizers from the menus of Chef Jeff Batt, a special keg of spiced Pelican Bay Brown Ale is being prepared by Brewmaster Mark Simpson. Perfect for the Fall, Pelican Bay is a Dockside favourite and just one of the beers which are brewed in-house and served fresh in the Dockside restaurant and lounge.

Dockside Details

The Dockside Restaurant offers superbly prepared classic dishes in a setting like no other. Located on the waterfront where Granville Island faces the city, guests can enjoy panoramic views across False Creek to the world-famous cityscape of Yaletown and beyond to the mountains of the North Shore.

The open dining room is relaxed yet refined, wrapped in spectacular floor to ceiling windows, while the lounge offers warm intimate surroundings for evening cocktails. The award-winning patio catches sunlight from morning to late afternoon. Protected on three sides it’s an oasis of calm, disturbed only by the occasional sound of boats making their way along False Creek. Recent renovations have added fireplaces and casual seating areas to this Vancouver destination.

These three venues offer seating options that are perfect for groups from 4 to 200. With signature elements like a 50-foot aquarium and an open kitchen, each meal is an experience for all the senses. Located adjacent to the boutique Granville Island Hotel, the Dockside Restaurant is open seven days a week serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reservations are recommended.

Reviews
<p

We drive into town from Delta and make an evening of browsing through Granville Isl. Market. The restaurnat is perfect for a quiet evening.View is wonderful. I appreciate the spacious arrangement of the tables. We have our favorite table, the staff and service is fabulous. I had the herb crusted Halibut – it was delicious and my husband enjoyed the slate fish. It was a memorable evening. We look forward to another visist very soon. As well, we have enjoyed the great patio – has to be one of Vancouver’s best.” OpenTable.com

“We have going to Vancouver for many years and most recently (if twenty years can be considered recently) staying exclusively at the wonderful Graville Island Hotel. Because we have an aversion to hotel restaurants, this is the first time we have had dinner there. It was one of the finest dinners we have in a city that is known for its fine restaurants. Outstanding in every way!” OpenTable.com

“We enjoyed the welcoming feel of the restaurant – appropriate lighting, comfortable seating – it is like a comfortable dining room. We will return again as the restaurant has once again met our expectations. The salmon was nicely prepared and the lamb was well presented and excellent on the tongue. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.” OpenTable.com

GOODS: New “Oakwood Canadian Bistro” Laying Out A Brunch Spread On West 4th

Gluttony

Kits & West Side

Andrew Morrison

Kitsilano

oakwood Canadian Bistro

Scout Magazine

Vancouver Brunch
<guid

The restaurant’s name pays homage to the reclaimed wood materials used in the space, as well as Kitsilano’s tree-themed street names. The small, straightforward menu showcases honest Canadian fare influenced by French techniques.

The Oakwood Canadian Bistro’s food philosophy is focused on fresh, house-made dishes crafted from locally sourced products. The seasonally changing menu caters to market availability and the sustainability of the products. All meats are organic, local and free of hormones and antibiotics, while the seafood is sustainable, seasonal and Ocean Wise certified. From the breads and pastas to the butchery and sauces, all products are made in-house with quality and consistency. At the bar, guests will find an excellent selection of 11 local craft beers, classic cocktails and an expertly chosen wine list.

The Oakwood Canadian Bistro welcomes with a comfortable, down-to-earth room designed by Mike Shea, who was inspired by restaurants he has experienced on his travels. Shea worked with SSDG Interiors and master carpenter Roman Mann to help implement his vision for the 85-seat room, which features key design elements — including a 16-seat communal table — made from reclaimed fir, oak and cedar. The welcoming patio seats 15 guests. Serving fresh, honest food in a casual neighbourhood environment, this modest Kitsilano room encourages diners to gather around the central communal table with old and new friends, sip BC craft beers and linger over one of Chef Michael Robbins’ seasonally driven dishes.

————————————————-

Chefs Lucais Syme & Adam Pegg Of La Quercia To Open L’Officio

Gluttony

Kits & West Side

Adam Pegg

Andrew Morrison

Kitsilano

L'Officio Restaurant Vancouver

L'Officio Vancouver

L'Officio Wine Bar

L'Ufficio Restaurant Vancouver

L'Ufficio Vancouver

La Ghianda

La Quercia

Lucais Syme

Scout Magazine

West Side
<guid

It is so named because the new project will finally afford them the square footage for an office. The new – and rather small – restaurant at 3687 West 4th (formerly a shop called “Garden Party”) will have separate frontage from La Quercia (though it may umbilically connect at the rear near the kitchen), fewer than 20 seats, many wines poured by the glass, and what I can only imagine will be a menu card of Italian bar bites that will blow us all away. L’Officio is still in its conceptual stage (ie. construction has yet to begin), so we can only ballpark the date for opening in early 2012. Since these fellows aren’t in the business of doing anything half-assed, I’ll wager it’ll be well worth the wait.

<a

Within, staff from the West 4th music store provide The Track, the song that is on heavy rotation that week; The Playlist, which is pretty self-explanatory; The Gig, the must see show of the week; and The Glance, a view ahead to music on the horizon. I was ready to pan this record on principal, but I really believe these two masters of their style have delivered a hard-hitting LP of clever rhymes and phat beats. This track in particular has had me crooning along to the chorus at the top of my lungs, especially the part where they tune it up a third or whatever (it’s so awesome). Dude sounds like TV On The Radio but I don’t think it’s him.<span

Veering away from an exclusive ‘fine dining’ experience into one that is more accessible, the new space welcomes with a playful, warm design by Marc Bricault that evokes a neighbourhood atmosphere where guests can sit back, socialize and be themselves. Guests may watch the kitchen brigade while sipping a handcrafted cocktail at the 12-seat bar, or gather around a table with friends while listening to music compiled by the experts at Kitsilano’s Zulu Records.

Refuel’s food philosophy focuses on affordable, honest, down-to-earth Northwest fare that celebrates seasonal, local ingredients. Open for lunch and dinner daily, with special brunch features on the weekends, the Refuel menu has an incredible selection of snacks, sides, starters, mains and plates to share that utilize quality ingredients and offer excellent value. At the bar, the focus is on thoughtfully prepared, classic cocktails, along with craft beer and approachable wines.
<p
