Vancouver, BC | In collaboration with BLUSH N BONES we are celebrating Dia de los Muertos with artist Cindy “Blush” Fair on Friday, November, 2nd. Meet the artist and get familiar with her amazing craft alongside a menu prepared by our own Marcela Ramirez. Service starts at 5pm. Dinner cost: $50.

ABOUT CINDY FAIR | Cindy’s artistic inspiration is transpired through her interpretation and attraction to “Dia de Muertos” – Mexico’s “Day of the Dead” and the ancient tradition of skull art. Although the Mexican cultural event may appear to be based on death to some, it is in the artist’s opinion uniquely about the ‘celebration of life’ … and the final mark we leave behind. Her work contemplates important questions such as: “Did we fully embrace and lived the life we loved? Were we able to find meaning and bring joy to others? Is death not a transitional cycle from life into the next world?” It is from these thoughts and questions that the artist creates her unique art pieces, which seemingly take on a personality of their own as they evolve into their final creation.

Cindy’s sculptures incorporate clay, acrylic, a variety of paint medium, metal, Swarovski crystals, carefully selected vintage jewelry along with other accessories in her work to express her artistic impression and view on skull culture. Her art is divided between the creation of calaveras or ‘human skulls’ in tribute to ‘Dia los Muertos’ and referred to in her collection as ‘Glamour Skulls’ while her ‘Beasts of Bling’ or ‘animal skull’ series is inspired by a collection of authentic bison, long horn steer, deer and other ethically procured animal skulls, which in her mind have provided their existence and substance to allow humanity to exist.

Cindy is originally from Calgary, Alberta and is a self taught artist who has resided in Vancouver, BC since 1993. She has lived and travelled through many parts of Central and South America; where she first discovered her passion for the countries culture, traditions and family values. Some of her fondest memories are of her home in the city and state of Zacatecas, where her attraction to Mexico began. It is her heart’s desire to return one day as a permanent part of this society and culture to remain connected to the origin of her work.

Cindy’s work is displayed at Suquet Interiors and their various locations in Yaletown, Coal Harbour, and Park Royal Mall, Konquer Motorcycles in Kelowna, and Galeria de Ida Victoria in San Jose del Cabo.
