Railtown’s Postmark Brewing Acquired by Craft Collective Beerworks

The GOODS from Postmark Brewing

Vancouver, BC | Postmark Brewing is pleased to announce that the brand has been acquired by Craft Collective Beerworks, official today. This acquisition, which was negotiated over a six-month period, will allow Postmark to increase production, sales and distribution ultimately creating a new nationally focused trajectory for the established West Coast brand.

Postmark’s founding partners, Steve Thorp, Nate Rayment and Reuben Major, will continue to own and operate the original brewery site, including its tasting room and retail store located at 55 Dunlevy Avenue, Vancouver (Railtown neighbourhood). In addition, the founders will continue to manage the overall brand vision and marketing strategy for Postmark. The acquisition will free up production space at the Railtown brewery, allowing the building to pivot into the “Postmark Innovation Facility.” This new focus will highlight experimental beers, small batch collaborations, a barrel aging program and increased Postmark cider production all to be enjoyed on site and sold out of the cellar door.

“We are incredibly proud of the brand we have built with Postmark Brewing. It’s exactly what we set out to do in 2014, to be a West Coast lifestyle brand producing session style, balanced craft beer for our friends to enjoy. We feel strongly that the Postmark brand now has the foundation for continued growth on provincial, national and international platforms. Craft Collective’s production and sales strength will give us the fuel to invest in brand growth globally so more craft beer fans can enjoy Postmark brews,” says Postmark co-founder, Steve Thorp.

The team at Postmark Brewing will be retained with responsibilities shifted to leading the Innovation Facility and working closely with the Craft Collective Beerworks team to grow the current and future beer portfolio for Postmark. Post-acquisition, co-founder Steve Thorp will continue as Brand Director; leading brand strategy, partnerships, marketing, community engagement and export market growth strategy and execution.

“This acquisition is something we have been seeking for the Craft Collective business since inception,” comments Craft Collective co-founder, Richard Sehmer. “We are thrilled to be adding Postmark Brewing to our brand collective and look forward to growing the iconic West Coast brand into a national and international staple.”

Craft Collective co-founder Andrew Harris adds, “our team is very excited to welcome the Postmark brand family into our portfolio. Postmark’s strong brand equity paired with our sales and distribution pathways will open the door for more people to enjoy these great beers across Canada and beyond.”

Postmark co-founder, Nate Rayment notes that, “one of our ongoing roadblocks over the years has been a lack of capacity; opportunities were there but we just couldn’t meet the demand due to our space and production constraints. I’m really excited that through this acquisition, the handcuffs will come off and Postmark will now have the opportunity to grow to the potential we have always aimed for.”

Postmark Brewing is currently sold in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Maritimes, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and throughout select locations in Europe. With this acquisition, Postmark will now have the ability to further expand distribution within British Columbia, Eastern Canada and international markets. The technical and production capabilities of Craft Collective Brewing will see Postmark launch new and innovative products as soon as Spring 2019.
