24 Great Chefs to Gather For EAT! Harvest Feast

The GOODS from EAT! Vancouver

Vancouver, BC | The biggest and most sensational charitable event of this year’s 16th annual EAT! Vancouver festival is happening on Friday, November 9th from 7 – 9:30pm. EAT! Harvest is an evening of canapés, wine pairings and desserts, highlighting some of the industry’s top talents. This signature event will be a gathering of two dozen of the best chefs from across Canada, as well as Portland and Los Angeles, amid the glorious Pinnacle Hotel’s Ballroom atmosphere.

Tickets to attend the soiree are limited to 400 and cost $125 per person, including canapés and drinks, with proceeds going to Project CHEF – a cool, hands-on classroom program that teaches elementary school kids the fun and fundamentals of nutritious food and cooking, while also exposing them to multicultural flavours and dishes. Notably, last year EAT! Vancouver donated $25,000 to the not-for-profit organization, allowing them to expand their program significantly. This ongoing partnership will continue to promote Project CHEF’s growth, in-turn imparting a solid foundation in our succeeding generations of at-home and, potentially, career “chefs” – including kitchen skills and knowledge spanning every stage of food from its farming/growing to the importance of sharing a meal – so that they are equipped for a lifetime of healthy and conscientious food decisions.

The Chefs

There’s really no better way to experience food than when it’s harvested at its peak and prepared by industry visionaries and experts. Of the 24 participating chefs who will be transforming the season’s best ingredients into their own signature bites, 12 of them represent some of Vancouver’s most highly acclaimed establishments. They are Robert Belcham (Campagnolo, Campagnolo Roma, Monarch Burger), Trevor Bird (Fable Kitchen), Shelome Bouvette (Chicha), Andrea Carlson (Burdock & Co.), Brian Luptak (The Acorn), Ian McHale (Wildebeest), Makoto Ono (Mak n’ Ming), Pino Posteraro (Cioppino’s), Sean Reeve (The MacKenzie Room), Mark Singson (FAM Inc.) and Lucais Syme (Cinara). Not only will EAT! Harvest will give those in attendance the opportunity to take a tasty tour of the city’s eclectic restaurants within the convenience of one singular experience, it also offers the rare opportunity to meet them in-person!

Participating EAT! Harvest chefs also include ten talents from various kitchens around the country. Visiting from our neighbouring province of Alberta are Edmontonian’s David Leeder (most recently of Paris’ Frenchie) and Kelsey Johnson (Café Linnea), and Steve Brochu (Chartier) from Beaumont. Further East, from the deer+almond, young chef Mandel Hitzer will be representing the cutting edge of Winnipeg, Manitoba’s burgeoning culinary scene. Representing the country’s East Coast urban food scenes are Tyler Shedden (The Chase), Charlotte Langley (Scout Canning, Bibs & Bubbs), Dustin Gallagher (Peoples Eatery), Renee Bellefeuille (Art Gallery of Ontario & AGO Bistro), and Mitchell Bates (Grey Gardens), all from Toronto; Antonio Park (Park Lavanderia) will also be in town from Montreal to whip up something delicious.

Meanwhile, making the journey north for this special occasion are two American chefs: frequent food television champion Neal Fraser from Redbird (among others) in Los Angeles and, from Portland, Oregon, Beast’s head chef and owner, the extraordinary Naomi Pomeroy, who worked her way from underground supper clubs to celebrity chef status. This signature event will be offering the unique chance to experience two of the nation’s most revered chefs cooking, whittled into bite-size appies, without having to battle borders or reservations.

This is a truly rare opportunity for the public to immerse themselves in a veritable hive of culinary creativity and genius for an interactive, one-night-only tasting experience. It’s the must-attend food event of the season! Get your tickets here.
