Strange Fellows Announces ‘Hop Devil Hootenanny’ Good Times on September 22

The GOODS from Strange Fellows Brewing

Vancouver, BC | Inspired by both the Belgian Hopduvel* and the British Corn Mother** traditions, our Hop Devil Hootenanny celebrates the harvest of a brewer’s favourite crops – hops and barley! So grab your friends and family and come on down for a Brewer’s harvest celebration, with hoppy beers, FREE corn on the cob, and music and dancing courtesy of Professor Banjo, all presided over by the Hop Devil himself.

Corn Shuck 5pm until the corn runs out
Community Dance with Professor Banjo 7-9pm
Beer & good company till 11pm

Saturday, September 22nd
5-11pm | No cover! | All ages welcome!

*To ensure the next year’s successful harvest, Belgian hop farmers paraded then burned effigies of the Hopduvel (a personification of a storm that could destroy unharvested hop fields), while **Celtic Pagans wove decorative shapes from the last sheaves of grain for the crop’s spirit to inhabit over the winter, before being plowed into the field come Spring.
