Doing the Dishes with Amy Renee York

The Dishes is a new Scout column that asks Vancouverites to walk us through a map of their ideal day and night on the town. We’re talking breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner and late night cocktails. Tax and tip included.

For this week’s edition of The Dishes, we talked Nouvelle Nouvelle Co-Owner, Buyer, and Resident Photographer, Amy Renee York into flexing some serious foodie muscles while giving us her ideal day of Vancouver drinking and dining.

Good morning! What’s for breakfast/brunch?

I don’t often make time for a proper sit down brunch/breakfast but if it’s gonna happen then it’s the Merguez Hash from Wildebeest. I really like that big, high-ceilinged room in the light of day.

Where should we meet for coffee/tea? Revolver.

A “little buddy” for me and whoever’s working at Nouvelle Nouvelle that day.

Now we’re hungry again. What’s for lunch? Pazzo Chow.

Fresh and healthy lunch specials from my favorite Italian in the city, Maya. Bonus points for a scoop of ice cream with espresso poured over top from BPP before heading back to the shop.

What’s for dinner?

I love to eat dinner sitting at the bar and Di Beppe is making me really happy lately with their Carbonara and low-key little Euro room.

What’s for dessert?

I’m not big on dessert – can I have another drink? Something low ABV and refreshing. Lillet Blanc or Suze with a bit of ice on the patio at Jules in the evening sun sounds perfect to me.

Where are you taking us for late night cocktails?

BOXCAR – favourite people, favourite tiny room, favourite late night drinks. It’s always my last stop as I make my way home from a night out.  The bar at Kissa Tanto for a “My Private Toyko” with plum wine, so good!

Kate Snyder Does ‘The Dishes’

Sunja Link Does The Dishes

We already know that the local clothing designer and owner of Main Street boutique and spa, Sunja Link Body Shoppe, has discerning taste when it comes to the products and items that she puts on her body. So we're unsurprised that she's equally thoughtful about what food and drink she prefers to put into it.
