The GOODS from Homer St. Cafe & Bar
Vancouver, BC | Homer Street Cafe and Bar will continue its monthly Takeover Series collaboration with local microbrewery, Powell Brewery for a ten-day long event kicking-off April 30 through to May 9.
The ongoing series sees a different distiller or brewer commandeer Homer Street Cafe’s bar and kitchen for a week each month, offering drink specials, collaborative menu items and ticketed tasting dinners hosted by experts from the participating brewery and/or distillery.
Throughout May’s takeover, Homer Street Cafe will feature a selection of Powell Brewery’s beers on draught including, Lazy D’Haze IPA, Ode to Citra Pale Ale, Witbier with Ginger & Cardamom and a cask of Creamsicle Pale Ale.
The event will close with a guided, family-style tasting dinner on Wednesday, May 9 at 7pm hosted by Powell Brewery Co-Owner and Brewmaster David Bowkett. Head Chef Jeff MacIntosh will incorporate the beers with fresh ingredients creating a three-course dinner. Guests can expect to see Homer Street’s famous Rotisserie Chicken, Maple Butter Pork Belly and other special creations paired with a number of Powell Brewery’s award-winning beers.
Tickets to the tasting dinner are $68 including tax and gratuity.

ABOUT POWELL BREWERY | Powell Brewery is a small, independent microbrewery owned and operated by David Bowkett and wife Nicole and opened December 2012 on a nano scale with a focus on creating high quality, handcrafted beers for locals to enjoy. The brewery quickly gained a name for itself within the community and by May of 2013, they were humbled when receiving the prestigious award, “Beer of the Year”, from the Canadian Brewing Awards for their Old Jalopy Pale Ale. In November of 2013, they took possession of a larger space and by the end of September 2014, the doors to the Tasting Room were open. Needless to say, their original goal of staying small and growing slowly quickly changed.
