The GOODS from Jamjar
Vancouver, BC | On February 17th, 2018, two of Vancouver’s most celebrated Middle Eastern food ventures–Tayybeh & Jamjar–join forces to put on a show and deliver a unique culinary and cultural experience like no other! The pair met at the amazing Indian Summer Festival when they were hosted by Chef Vikram Vij in his Opening Gala extravaganza. They quickly realized their passion for home-cooked Levantine cuisine ran deep (truth be told they kept passing food back & forth to each other between their two stalls) and decided to team up to bring the best of Syrian and Lebanese cuisine in one room.
The menu will feature a combination of family-style served dishes and a couple of live stations showcasing delicacies usually found in Middle Eastern villages. Expect to see dishes like Yalanji (hand rolled grape leaves stuffed with seasoned rice & cooked in olive oil & lemon juice), a Saj oven producing a number of delicious flat bread creations such as Zaatar saj, as well as Makloubeh and Msahhab Chicken!
The event will take place at Jamjar South Granville at 1488 West 11th Av. Tickets start at $70 per person and are inclusive of one Arak & wine pairing and are spread amongst two seatings starting 5PM.
Jamjar is a from scratch approach Lebanese kitchen specialized in home style cooked food as well as flavoured hummus and dips available in jars to go. It operates two locations and a fast casual spin off under the name Jamjar Canteen.
Tayybeh is an award-winning Syrian home-style catering company and social enterprise that is run entirely by women and employs spectacular Syrian women newcomer chefs. In just one year, Tayybeh has become a culinary sensation in Vancouver, selling out numerous pop-up dinners in minutes and catering hundreds of events to rave reviews.
