Chez Christophe Unveils 2018 Valentine’s Day Collection

The GOODS from Chez Christophe

Burnaby, BC |There is a whole lot of chocolate to love this year as Burnaby Heights’ Chez Christophe Chocolaterie Patisserie (4717 Hastings Street) launches three new chocolate sculptures and rouge-themed pastries today, January 23, just-in-time for Valentine’s Day.

“My team and I have lots of fun coming up with new chocolate art and Valentine’s Day is no different,” says pastry chef and master confectioner Christophe Bonzon. “This year, we really wanted to highlight the subtle beauty of certain items that evoke the image of love, as well a playful nature. Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples, it’s for your parents, your kids, your teachers. For all your loved ones. You can even treat yourself.”

The three new bonbon-filled chocolate sculptures are the Puckering Prince ($17.95), a bright-green, fanciful frog with a crown on its head; Playing Koi ($19.95) features a lily pad and two koi fish, a symbol for good luck; and Love Locked ($15.95) with a classic red heart lock and key.

In addition to Chez Christophe’s regular line-up of chocolate truffles, two new flavours have been created including a heart-shaped “chili” with 70% dark chocolate ganache infused with Thai chilies and a hearted-shaped strawberry black pepper bonbon. They will both go in a limited edition Valentine’s Day trio box ($6.45) along with the shop’s popular champagne truffle.

For those celebrating Valentine’s Day at home, Chez Christophe has several dessert pastries that are great for sharing including the Garden of Love ($6.20) featuring passionfruit curd, milk chocolate bavaroise, dark chocolate shell and chocolate crumble; and the new Velour comprised of red velvet sponge, lemon yogurt mousse, pistachio ganache, pistachio beet chocolate crunch, and raspberry jam.

The entire Valentine’s Day collection is available starting Tuesday, January 23, 2018.
