The GOODS from La Taqueria

Vancouver, BC | La Taqueria’s first location on Hastings street will close for renovations on November 24th as the space receives a major refresh after almost nine years of operation. The eatery will reopen in January 2018 with a renewed look to match the restaurants that have since opened in Vancouver and Victoria. The final day of service will be on November 24th and La Taqueria will serve select tacos at 2-for-1 prices from 2pm-5pm to celebrate the end of the location in its current form.

“We’re excited to refresh Hastings and add new personality to the space”, says owner Marcelo Ramirez, “it’s the place where it all began for La Taqueria and La Mezcaleria”. The restaurant family now encompasses seven restaurants in BC, all stemming from the success of the original La Taqueria on Hastings. La Taqueria Hastings opened with co-owner Alfonso Sanz at 322 W Hastings St. in 2009, and the eatery has since grown into a five-location operation with restaurants on Cambie St., Hornby St., in North Van and in Victoria. With co-owner Ignacio Arrieta, Ramirez opened La Mezcaleria on Commercial Drive in 2011, which has also expanded to East Cordova St. in Gastown.

The 2-for-1 offering includes eight different tacos, with four meat options: Carnitas, Al Pastor, Tinga de Pollo and Pescado, regularly $3.00, as well as all vegetarian offerings, which are regularly $2.50.

While La Taqueria Hastings is under renovation, regulars are encouraged to visit La Taqueria’s latest and largest location at 586 Hornby St., which is open 7 days a week.

ABOUT LA TAQUERIA

La Taqueria was born in 2009 as a pinche taco stand that could replicate the taste and feel of street tacos around Mexico. We make our tacos from traditional recipes with local, organic and sustainable products whenever possible. Our menu offers different types of fillings that can be served as a taco (soft tortilla, made locally) or quesadilla.
