La Mezcaleria Launches New Fall Menu with Seafood Dishes Taking Big Role

The GOODS from La Mezcaleria

Vancouver, BC | Inspired by a recent trip to Mexico, La Mezcaleria has launched a new dinner menu for fall. In particular, the trip motivated Executive Chef Mariana Gabilondo to add more seafood to the menus at the Gastown and Commercial Drive restaurants. The new recipes adhere to the same traditional techniques La Mezcaleria is known for, with clams, oysters and fish now taking a starring role.

The new dinner menu sees even more fish and shellfish options, with rich plates that are sure to warm you on chillier days, like the Ostiones Gratinados a la Mexicana, a bubbling molcajete full of oysters prepared in a white wine cream sauce. Hearty plates are balanced by lighter fare such as the Tiradito de Pulpo, a tender octopus sashimi salad with ginger cilantro dressing, avocado mousse, sundried cherry tomatoes and shaved radish, served with crispy tostadas. A Risotto de Almejas, creamy manila clam risotto with white wine and parmesan, takes inspiration from contemporary cuisine in northern Mexico. For those who can only be satisfied with a plate of tacos, new to the lineup is Pulpo al Ajillo, octopus with pasilla pepper garlic oil, topped with onions, avocado mousse and crema on a flour tortilla.

A refreshing accompaniment to meals, La Mezcaleria’s cocktails are made with traditional Mexican flavours and quality agaves to prepare complex drinks. A Late Night Happy Hour is offered Tuesday-Sunday at La Mezcaleria Gastown from 9pm-close, with small plates and select cocktails at reduced prices. About La Mezcaleria

dish2

La Mezcaleria serves authentic Mexican food in Gastown and on Commercial Drive. Dishes are inspired by different regions in Mexico, and are made using traditional methods with fresh, west coast ingredients. Along with a range of tacos, guests will find traditional staples such as tostadas, flautas, enseladas and share plates with options for gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and carnivorous diets. La Mezcaleria also boasts one of the largest lists of agaves in Vancouver, featuring many rare tequilas and mezcals that can’t be found elsewhere in town. The innovative cocktail list makes use of savoury ingredients, like cilantro, serrano pepper and blue corn, as much as sweet, fruity flavours.

Brunch is served at both locations on Saturday and Sunday, and a daily Happy Hour sees feature drinks and snacks at reduced prices.
