The GOODS from The Acorn

Vancouver, BC | On Wednesday, October 18th, The Acorn Restaurant, Wildcraft Foraging and Summerhill Pyramid Winery are teaming up to create an exclusive dining experience aptly named Vintage + Veg II, the follow up to the highly successful collaboration with Kanazawa Wines some months ago. 40 lucky guests will be treated to a five-course dinner with wine pairings at Vancouver’s most popular vegetable forward eatery. Chef Brian Luptak + Sous Chef Devon Latte will be creating a unique, one-night-only menu from a variety of specially foraged wild mushrooms courtesy of Victoria, BC’s Lance “Wildcraft” Staples. Each course (including dessert!) will involve a celebration of the unique varieties of local mushrooms currently in season.

Summerhill’s chief operator, Ezra Cipes, will be in attendance speaking of the wines he’s paired with the dishes in addition to notes from Staples and Luptak regarding what’s being served from forest to plate.

The single seating, ticketed event begins at 7pm and runs throughout the evening. Tickets are $95 (+ tax and gratuity) and can be purchased online at www.theacornrestaurant.ca/tickets.

The Acorn is a completely vegetarian restaurant that caters enthusiastically to vegan, gluten-free, and raw diets. After opening its doors in the summer of 2012, it was listed in En Route Magazine’s top 10 Best New Canadian Restaurants of 2013 – The only vegetarian restaurant to ever receive the honour – as well as garnering praise from The New York Times, Huffington Post, and CNN. The Daily Meal named The Acorn the 2nd best vegetarian restaurant in the world in January 2015.

Ezra Cipes is continuing the family legacy of Summerhill, which was founded after the family moved from New York to Kelowna when he was only 5. Cipes has grown up in the wine industry, and feels blessed to now lead a company dedicated to creating beauty in collaboration with nature. Recently Cipes has taken a leadership role in the Canadian wine industry as a director of the Canadian Vintners Association, Vice-Chair of the British Columbia Wine Institute, and Chair of the BC Wine Appellation Task Group that tabled its recommendations in November, 2015.
