Restaurant Manager
Reports to: Restaurant Director, Elisa
Toptable Group is seeking a Restaurant Manager to oversee our front of house (FOH) operations for the newest addition to our restaurant group, Elisa, located in Yaletown. Designed by the internationally renowned and award-winning Rockwell Group in New York, this elegant and modern steakhouse breaks the old-school mold and highlights a vibrant see-and-be-seen destination restaurant. Anchored by an open show kitchen and a Grillworks Infierno as the centre piece, the menu will feature premium cuts of beef, sustainable seafood, and seasonal produce — all locally sourced. The convivial atmosphere flows from the airy dining room sections to the bar and lounge and through to a communal table.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Restaurant Manager will inspire, develop, oversee and manage the FOH opening team, while working closely with the management team to support the creation and delivery of a unique and elevated beverage guest experience that is in harmony with the kitchen’s food program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(other duties may be assigned as required)
– Serves as an educator, as well as an inspirational, committed and responsible leader to the restaurant’s FOH teams
– Assists with overseeing the day-to-day operations
– Maintains exceptional standards of professionalism and hospitality
– Leads by example, inspiring staff to deliver a memorable food and beverage experience every time
– Displays a genuine passion to facilitate and exceed guest service expectations
– Ensures the delivery of superior customer service through effective staff training and education
– Actively participates in the mentorship and support of all team members
– Develops a strong and positive rapport with both staff and guests alike
– Under the direction of the Restaurant Director, initiates and executes special projects as required
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
– 3+ years of experience leading a premium food and beverage operation
– A professionally recognized wine and/or spirits certificate is an asset
– Experience training and managing a large and varied staff
– Related University degree or a combination of education and experience
– Strong business acumen with a proven ability to provide insightful industry leading, best in class outcomes to perpetuate growth; driving positive results and aligning with business goals in a premium service environment
– Highly committed to a premium level of quality
– Skilled at developing and creating food and beverage experiences that drive customer satisfaction and loyalty
– Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze current business problems and implement recommended solutions
– A solutions provider committed to a vision of service to create an ultimate guest experience
– Strong verbal and written English communication skills
– Superior conflict resolution skills, with the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, clientele, suppliers, and partners
– Excellent planning, organizational and problem solving skills
– Ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks
– Comfortable with dealing with media, public speaking, and VIP guests

Wine Director

The Wine Director will curate, develop, oversee and manage the wine program, and will work closely with the Bar Manager to support the creation and delivery of a unique and elevated beverage guest experience that is in harmony with the kitchen’s food program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Oversees the day-to-day beverage operations
– Serves as an educator, as well as an inspirational, committed and responsible leader to the restaurant’s FOH teams
– Prepares for and inspires staff to deliver a memorable beverage experience
– Displays a passion for and about wine and the wine industry
– Delivers superior customer service through effective training and education
– Leads by example by delivering superior consistent customer service and hospitality
– Maximizes resources and inventories by managing cost, maintaining and monitoring inventory and budget to ensure the best use of inventory and allocation of expenses
– Develops a strong rapport with agents and wineries
– Under the direction of the Restaurant Director, initiates and executes special projects as required
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
– 3+ years of experience leading a premium food and beverage operation
– Holds a high level, professionally recognized Sommelier certification from WSET, CMS, ISG or other valued equivalent
– Experience curating and managing wine inventory with both fiscal responsibility and award garnering intentions
– Related University degree or a combination of education and experience
– Strong business acumen with a proven ability to provide insightful industry leading, best in class outcomes to perpetuate growth; driving positive results and aligning with business goals in a premium service environment
– Highly committed to a premium level of quality
– Skilled at developing and creating food and beverage experiences that drive customer satisfaction and loyalty
– Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze current business problems and implement recommended solutions

– Designs creative and elevated custom cocktails, while being well versed in classic cocktail culture
– Delivers superior customer service through effective training and education
– Maximizes resources and inventories by managing cost and maintaining and monitoring inventory and budge, ensuring the best use of inventory and allocation of expenses
– Develops a strong rapport with agents and distillers
– Under the direction of the Restaurant Director, initiates and executes special projects as required
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
– 3+ years of experience managing a premium beverage operation
– A professionally recognized wine and/or spirits certificate
– Experience curating and managing inventory with both fiscal responsibility and award garnering intentions
– Related University degree or a combination of education and experience
– Possesses solid background knowledge of spirits, etc.
– Strong business acumen with a proven ability to provide insightful industry leading, best in class outcomes to perpetuate growth; driving positive results and aligning with business goals in a premium service environment
– Highly committed to a premium level of quality
– Skilled at developing and creating beverage experiences that drive customer satisfaction and loyalty
