The GODS from Mak N Ming

Vancouver, BC | If you’re in the mood for some brunch with a dash of Japanese flair, join us at Mak N Ming in charming Kitsilano! Start off your Sunday with freshly brewed Milano coffee or a pot of Westholme organic tea, followed by an OKONOMI-HASH (a breakfast play on the Osakan soul food, Okonomiyaki) or try our luscious vegetarian THE MEDLEY QUICHE made with free-range eggs and hand-made buttery crust. Make sure to save room for Pastry Chef Ming’s delightful creations like the KRISPIE CHALLAH FRENCH TOAST (may we suggest a side of foie?) and weekly sweet features (check out the full menu here). See you on Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm! Love, Mak N Ming.

ABOUT MAK N MING

33575277302_7f7fd8fbc6_k

Chef Makoto Ono (“Mak”) and culinary/life partner pastry chef Amanda Cheng (“Ming”) would like to welcome you to our little corner in Kitsilano: Mak N Ming restaurant.

We offer two seasonally conscious tasting menu selections nightly – our full Chef’s menu of 6 courses along with a shorter 3-course Demi menu. Additionally, vegetarian tasting menus are available upon request with advance notice.

Makoto’s signature style seamlessly blends his Japanese heritage with his love for French cookery creating approachable yet inventive contemporary West Coast cuisine. Amanda’s innovative bread and dessert creations are designed to please both eye and palette while perfectly flowing with the menu progression. Dishes are inspired by the changing variety of available produce and protein throughout the year.

Courses that have been featured in our tasting menus have included Dungeness crab noodle soup, kale “Pocky”, crusted nori bun, mirugai with celery root and parsley, duck breast with bitter greens and pear, farro ochazuke, and squash Mont Blanc.

As part of this nightly dining experience, a carefully chosen beverage and wine selection by our head sommelier, Roger Maniwa, is designed to complement our tasting menus; guided wine pairings for both the Chef’s and the Demi menu are also available upon request.

Simple and elegant, our intimate 26 seat space is located 2 blocks up from Kits Beach on Yew Street. Designed by Scott + Scott Architects, the cozy yet sophisticated room combines red cedar, blue-grey marble, raw leather, and cork chairs.

Omotenashi and warm, caring hospitality are the hallmarks of our service philosophy and we strive to do our utmost to ensure that each of your dining experiences here from start to finish is one to be remembered. Please come join Mak N Ming on our life’s journey through good food and good times. #smallteambighearts
