The GOODS from Ancora

Vancouver, BC | With spring’s arrival, it’s time to dust off your shades and reacquaint yourself with a sunny patio – and luckily, the city’s best is also home to award-winning cuisine. Ancora Waterfront Dining and Patio, recently named among Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants for the second consecutive year, is celebrating the season with a new prix fixe lunch menu and refreshing cocktail list.

With the patio now open, guests have the perfect opportunity to check out the restaurant’s new lunch menu, which serves as an expression of Executive Chef Ricardo Valverde’s exotic background. Tasty fusion dishes are showcased, including Black Cod Wontons with lobster espuma and scallions; Ancora’s signature Arroz Chaufa (Peruvian-style fried rice) with guanciale, baby shrimp, choclo (Peruvian corn), egg and pumpkin cilantro; and more. The three-course prix fixe menu will be offered Monday to Friday throughout the month of April (between noon and 2:30pm), and costs just $28.

Naturally, a new dining menu calls for complementary cocktails, and Ancora’s bar team – led by Bar Manager Philipp Karatsyupa – has delivered with an inventive drink list combining locally made spirits with Latin- and Asian-influenced spices, herbs and liqueurs. Highlights include the sunshine-bright Mignonette ($14), incorporating gin, muddled cucumbers, sherry, yuzu and vinegar garnished with roasted nori (pairs perfectly with oysters); and Bubbles & Caviar ($14), a decadent twist on bubble tea with Hangar 1 mandarin blossom vodka, Aperol, African nectar syrup, Cassis caviar and sparkling wine.

“We are really excited to share our new spring menus with guests and renew their appetites for flavourful dishes and fun warmer-weather cocktails,” said General Manager & Wine Director Andrea Vescovi. “The prix fixe lunch menu is a great way for diners to experience a range of Ancora’s flavours at an affordable price, and taste for themselves why we are consistently named one of the country’s best restaurants.”

Guests can also feast like royalty with Lima-born Chef Valverde’s five-course Peruvian Tasting Menu, which debuted last month and has been extended into April due to popular demand. A tribute to Peru’s culinary spirit and Chef’s heritage, the menu explores modern interpretations of traditional dishes, and is available at $75 per person with wine pairings an additional $50.
