GOODS from Culmina Family Estate Winery

Oliver, BC | Culmina Family Estate Winery is thrilled to announce that their 2013 vintage of Hypothesis, the estate’s flagship Bordeaux-style blend, will be released ‘en primeur’ on March 16th. For two weeks only, Culmina will be making full cases of the critically acclaimed vintage available to purchase at specialty pricing, with the wine’s shipment slated for September 1st in conjunction with its official public release.

Inspired by the Bordeaux ‘Futures’ tradition which allows the public to purchase unfinished wine in advance of it going into bottle, thereby guaranteeing access to highly sought after vintages, 2013 Hypothesis will be sold in advance of its public release at a cost of $468 per case, or the equivalent of $39 per bottle. As soon as the en primeur finishes on March 30th, Hypothesis wines sales for the 2013 vintage will close until September 1st, in conjunction with the wine’s official shipping and release date. The price of the wine at that time will be $46.

The 2013 Hypothesis has already garnered standout reviews from reviewers across the country, including WineAlign’s Michael Godel, who attributed the wine in November 2015 a whopping 93 points: “The 2013 combines the best of worlds put forth by the two previous vintages; ripe fruit, earthy-mineral tang, proper acidity and ripe, tonic tannin. The composition here is the most, accomplished, distinguished and relished. All this with thanks to exceptional balance.”

Master Sommelier John Szabo also had very complimentary things to say about the wine, attributing it a solid 91 points: “Easily the most successful, balanced and well-proportioned Hypothesis Bordeaux blend from Culmina to date. In my view, this seems to find the right balance between tannin, acid and fruit in a more elegant and polished, lively and succulent style. Tannins have evolved to a fine and elegant degree relative to previous vintages, and should continue to refine with additional time in the bottle”.

The 2013 Hypothesis is the third release of the estate’s flagship from Culmina, the property owned and operated by Don and Elaine Triggs, and their daughter Sara. Hypothesis represents the Triggs’ culmination of efforts to create an icon quality wine from select micro blocks off their Golden Mile Bench estate. A rich, bold, and terroir-driven blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, Hypothesis displays abundant spice, floral, and dark red fruit aromas, enveloping the palate with its dense structure, toasted oak, fine tannins, red plum flavours, and a long, persistent finish, creating wine of outstanding power, beauty, elegance, and style.

All those interested in purchasing 2013 Hypothesis during the two week ’en primeur’, please visit the Wine Boutique at store.culmina.ca between March 16 and March 30. All purchased wine will either be shipped on September 1st, or made available at the winery on September 15th, during Culmina’s inaugural Hypothesis pick-up party.

VISION & CREATION

Culmina_viewnorth-5

Culmina Family Estate Winery is the result of a lifetime of experience in the wine industry for Don, Elaine and Sara Triggs. Having worked in the industry for a combined 40+ years, Don and Elaine began in 2007 with a simple goal: to make the highest quality wines possible from their own family estate. Channelling their lifelong passion and resources into their family-run property in the Golden Mile, Culmina represents their commitment to excellence as well as their desire to craft icon quality wines reflective of their origins.

Culmina is located on three spectacular adjoining benches, scouted for its rich vineyard potential and developed from virgin land. Visitors to Culmina may explore a very limited release of Culmina’s carefully crafted wines – including the highly anticipated Grüner Veltliner – to learn about Culmina’s unique approach to viticulture and winemaking, receiving personalized attention by the Triggs and the rest of the Culmina team.

ARTISTRY & SCIENCE

Culmina_JM_barrelroom

Culmina is a family-owned wine estate operated by the Triggs and a small team of dedicated professionals. For the Triggs, ownership does not mean standing on the sidelines, but rather a full-time, hands-on commitment to every aspect of the business. Their singular objective: to maximize the quality of the wine produced from their family-run vineyard estate.

Culmina is supported by exceptionally talented Viticulture and Oenology professionals. At the helm of the local team is Jean-Marc Enixon. Hailing from France, Jean-Marc offers a wealth of industry experience from Canada and abroad, infusing his passion in all aspects of the grape growing and winemaking cycle. His tenure at Culmina follows three impressive vintages from BC winemaking Icon, Pascal Madevon, who still supports the project in an on-going basis following his transition to Consultancy.

Since Culmina’s inception has also been Alain Sutre, Consultant from Bordeaux. With his education and experience encompassing projects both in Canada and overseas, in areas of vineyard development, winemaking and grape growing disciplines, Alain provides invaluable input into the entire production process, from vineyard to grape to bottle.
