Vancouver, BC | Spring into wine season at the annual Wine for Waves on Friday, April 28, as more than two dozen wineries from the Naramata Bench Wineries Association bring their Spring Wine Releases to Vancouver for the season’s first tasting. For the fourth time, Naramata Bench Wineries Association has partnered with Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program to offer an unforgettable evening that combines the province’s best wines and sumptuous sustainable bites.

Hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver, Wine for Waves welcomes wine and seafood lovers alike. A dozen Ocean Wise partners and chefs, from Holt Renfrew’s Holts Café to Forage to Vancouver Aquarium’s own executive chef Ned Bell, and Naramata wineries restaurant chefs, will be serving mouthwatering, ocean-friendly seafood to perfectly complement the local B.C. pours.

For those who find a tasting glass isn’t quite enough, a wine store courtesy of Everything Wine will be onsite with wines for purchase. There will also be an impressive silent auction featuring donations from the Naramata Bench Wineries Association of Naramata wines and unforgettable wine experiences.

Tickets for the event are $110 + tax and are available at www.vanaqua.org/wineforwaves. All proceeds from the event support Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program.

About Ocean Wise™

Screen-Shot-2015-01-08-at-4.47
Overfishing is the biggest threat facing our oceans today. The Ocean Wise symbol next to a menu or seafood item is the Vancouver Aquarium’s assurance of an ocean-friendly seafood choice. Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program makes it easy for consumers to make sustainable seafood choices that ensure the health of our oceans for generations to come.

The Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program works directly with restaurants, markets, food services and suppliers to ensure they have the most current scientific information regarding sustainable seafood and to help them make ocean-friendly buying decisions. The options are highlighted on their menus and display cases with the Ocean Wise symbol, making it easier for consumers to make ocean-friendly seafood choices.

In addition to its website, Ocean Wise also makes available an iPhone application—an easy-to-use app that provides consumers with Ocean Wise restaurants, markets and supplier venues from coast to coast, and a comprehensive list of ocean-friendly seafood options. The Ocean Wise iPhone app is continuously updated with ocean-friendly seafood options and Ocean Wise partners spanning Victoria to Halifax.
