The Three Essential Albums Of The Juice Truck Boys, Zach & Ryan

cohen2

Definitive Records asks interesting Vancouverites to reach deep into the minds and pull the three albums that anchor their musical tastes. Today we hear from Zach Berman and Ryan Slater, the endlessly positive boys at The Juice Truck. There’s always room for music with Zach and Ryan, whether it’s bumpin’ tracks all over the city in their truck or coming out of the speakers of their popular Mount Pleasant shop. It was a tough decision to settle on three, but as Zach puts it, “…just like how our juices change with the season, so do our tracks…”:

Leonard CohenI’m You’re Man | LISTEN

“20 minutes of Leonard Cohen in the morning gets the creatives juices flowing. His music just seems to make everything more dramatic, more cinematic. Juicing seems more than just fruits and vegetables when Leonard Cohen is serenading the process.”

Kanye WestMy Dark Twisted Fantasy | LISTEN

“Kanye is crazy, but his music is masterful. The accumulation of all of his past creations are brought to the fold on this album. The symphony of sound takes you away from all of your day-to-day distractions; plus when you’re juicing to quick beats (beets), the speed of service tends to go up.”

Chet FakerBuilt on Glass | LISTEN

“Soulful, easy listening. Chet Faker’s music goes well with most things. It’s like your friend who makes most situations better. He’s the social crutch of music. Not sure what to play, anxious about some new juice ingredients? Chet Faker will make it all better.”
