(via) Did you know that famed surrealist Salvadore Dali wrote a cookbook? Neither did we. We’d be forgiven our ignorance, as “Les Dîners de Gala”, published in 1973, has been out of print for some 40 years. The original included the same elaborate dishes that would be served during the course of the wild dinner parties thrown in the home of the Spanish artist and his wife, Gala.
“Les diners de Gala is uniquely devoted to the pleasures of taste … If you are a disciple of one of those calorie-counters who turn the joys of eating into a form of punishment, close this book at once; it is too lively, too aggressive, and far too impertinent for you.” — Salvador Dalí.
Presented together with the 136 recipes over 12 chapters were many outstanding works of art by Dali himself. The reprint, from Taschen Books, is apparently faithful to the original, and goes on sale next month.
