Vancouver, BC | We are looking for a fun, energetic and a passionate person to join our team as Sous Chef. The food is locally focused, fun and not too fussy. The successful candidate will have great culinary skills and the ability to lead by example, as well as a creative spark! Apply with your resume to chef [at] junipervancouver.com.

Responsibilities

– Help in preparation and design of menu items

– Produce high quality plates in taste and design

– Ensure that the kitchen operates efficiently that meets our standards

– Fill in for the Executive Chef in planning and directing as needed

– Fill in for Executive Chef and salaried staff to cover lieu days, vacation & media events

– Help manage and train staff, establish standardized working practices, including opening, closing and sanitation

– Maintain a positive, professional and safe work environment for all staff

Qualifications:

– A minimum 4 years culinary experience in a fast paced high volume kitchen

– A minimum 2 years in a leadership role

– Red seal, chef certification or designation an asset.

– Desire to work well with those around you with strong and positive leadership skills

– Demonstrated passion, creativity in the restaurant industry

– Driven, great work ethic, ability to multitask in a fast paced environment

– Familiar with purchasing and inventory procedures

– Excellent in written and verbal communication

– Working knowledge of Excel, Squirrel, Optimum Control an asset
