Digging this engrossing animation of a sit-down interview that famed film director David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks) did with The Atlantic back in 2008. In it, the auteur discusses inspiration and the germination of ideas, and how vital it is to keep open one’s channels of creativity. The animation was done by Washington, DC designer Jackie Lay from when he used to work at The Atlantic (now freelance). “A lot of artists think that suffering is necessary,” Lynch says. “But in reality, any kind of suffering cramps the flow of creativity.” Also: “ideas are like fish.”
