Window Deuce At ‘Fat Mao’ On East Georgia Street In Chinatown

IMG_4959

A long time ago we posted a reader’s poll listing what we considered to be the top five restaurant tables in Vancouver. We received so much in the way of reader feedback – both positive and negative that we’ve decided to shine a brighter light on the subject, one excellent table at a time. You’ll find more great tables here.

The only seats without corresponding table numbers at Fat Mao in Chinatown are the two best ones in the house: the pair of high-top perches in the front corner window of the restaurant. This deuce is elevated and isolated from the rest of the tables and faces out rather than in. From here – as you slurp up your hot, southern Thai beef laksa or braised free range duck noodles – you can look at the busy goings-on of East Georgia Street with your steaming nose pressed up (almost) to the glass. The staff simply refer to it as “The Window”. Because duh.
