by Joey Armstrong | Campagnolo Roma is one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver. Homemade pasta, locally sourced ingredients, classic Italian flavours, friendly service…what’s not to like? I only recently discovered that they did brunch on the weekends, which opened up all sorts of new avenues for indulgence. Of note was the “Tutto” plate of housemade sausage, baked beans, mushrooms, roasted potatoes, two fried eggs, and toasted bread; and the Frittata alla Patata – an eggy frittata with scamorza (a mozza-like cheese) drizzled with garlic aioli and served with potato rosti. But drawing me in from the start was their “Glazed Zeppole” doughnut. The filling changes every week, which is dangerous as I live nearby. This time it was a sweet and delicious plum jam topped with a white chocolate cream-cheese glaze, which complimented the 49th Parallel espresso well and amplified my mental note to self: remember to check in the doughnuts at Camp Roma, every Saturday and Sunday from 10:30am to 2:30pm.
