The GOODS from Fanny Bay Oyster Bar

Vancouver, BC | To mark World Oyster Day on Friday, Aug. 5, Fanny Bay Oyster Bar will offer shellfish aficionados a true tide-to-table treat by featuring a bevy of oyster specials and donating 10 per cent of restaurant oyster sales to the Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program.

From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Aug. 5, guests can enjoy a number of signature oyster specials from Executive Chef Chris Andraza, including Oysters Three Ways (casino, fried and rockafeller; $12); Angels on Horseback (bacon-wrapped oysters on crostini; wilted spinach, $12); and Oyster Fritter (jalapeño corn fritter, white cheddar beer sauce; $9). The restaurant will also offer its regular happy hour menu from 3 to 6 p.m. which includes $1 Fanny Bay oysters, half-price Pan-Fried Oysters and $5 BRB Fanny Bay Oyster Stout on tap as well as a rotating selection of daily features.

Recently opened at 762 Cambie St. in Vancouver’s Stadium District, Fanny Bay Oyster Bar has garnered a fast following by providing a true, tide-to-table feast to the heart of the city with its 50-seat dining room — which includes a dedicated, 16-seat oyster bar — and a full bar as well as a retail shellfish market where patrons can purchase take-home catches like fresh, live or frozen oysters and clams, mussels, lobster and crab.

“We’ve enjoyed a wildly successful first month in Vancouver and we’re excited to offer guests a few of our signature oyster dishes while also giving back to a worthwhile cause,” says Andraza. “Our vertically integrated, tide-to-table model gives us access to some of the finest shellfish the West Coast has to offer and we’re proud to feature the very best of our farm-fresh products all year round.”

Part of the Taylor Shellfish Family of Farms that operates three eponymous oyster bars in Seattle, WA and a seafood shop at the Buckley Bay ferry landing on Vancouver Island, Fanny Bay Oysters is a fully integrated BC shellfish farmer and exporter and Ocean Wise-certified partner that has been growing and harvesting oysters for more than three decades, and is the largest producer of shellfish in Canada.

Fanny Bay Oyster Bar is open for lunch and dinner Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to close and on weekends for brunch, lunch and dinner from 10:30 a.m. to close with daily happy hour specials from 3 to 6 p.m., while the shellfish market is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
