With our city now so laughably unaffordable, thousands of Vancouverites are stuck imagining wonderful homes instead of living in them. “Spaced” is a record of our minds wandering the world of architecture and design, up and away from the unrewarding realities of shoebox condos, dark basement suites, and sweet fuck all on Craigslist.

(via) This extraordinary, hexagonal house sitting pretty in a Mechelen, Belgium clearing was designed by Ghent-based firm Architecten De Vylder Vinck Taillieu in 2011. Its concrete foundations – set around a copse of deciduous trees – are faced with 18 floor to ceiling windows making light of the indoor/outdoor divide. We dig how its sanctum is outside, and can easily imagine the quiet it serves. We’d take ours somewhere wooded and tucked away from thoroughfares in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island.
