the GOODs from Sai Woo

Vancouver, BC | Sai Woo is saying goodbye to winter and celebrating the spring season with an updated menu and new weekly food and drink features.

Sai Woo is officially welcoming warmer weather and sunnier skies with the launch of their brand new seasonally-inspired Spring Menus. Head Chef Keev Mah, Chef du cuisine Brandon Pham and team have created a number of new and innovative dishes incorporating the fresh flavours of the season and Bar Manager David Truscott has crafted an accompanying cocktail list of refreshing spring-inspired libations. The menus debut on Tuesday, March 15.

Swing by for a light bite and try the Tuna and Crispy Rice Cakes with pickled ginger, ponzu and wasabi mayonnaise. Stay for dinner and sample the new Sai Woo Salad, a West Coast inspired dish complete with smoked sockeye salmon on gem lettuce with tangy pickled tomatoes and blue cheese cream; or the Hanger Steak served with boudin noir blood sausage, fingerling potatoes and mustard greens, dressed in a red wine jus and topped with grilled scallion.

For those who enjoy an early evening, Sai Woo is launching the Early Bird Special, a three-course prixe fixe menu available daily from 5-6:30pm. Guests choose their preferred dish for each course and enjoy a complete dining experience any night of the week. Dishes include Beet Salad with blackberry sauce, Lemongrass Chicken with pandan rice and Mango Mousse Cake for dessert. At just $35 per person, the Early Bird Special is a great reason to get a head start on the evening.

March also marks the start of ‘Get Lucky Date Nite at Sai Woo.’ Avoid the weekend rush and enjoy an affordable night out on the town with your special someone every Thursday. A $30 three-course dinner menu and accompanying drink specials, like two Buddha beers for $10, will be available throughout the evening. So come out and get lucky at Sai Woo!

And to help get over those mid-week woes, Sai Woo is introducing Wine Wednesdays where guests receive 25 percent off all bottles of wine. Enjoy your favourite vintage as a welcome treat during the workweek.

New menus and weekly specials make for an exciting start to the spring season at Sai Woo!

ABOUT SAI WOO

17128203670_7cc0eaf9b2_o

In the heart of Chinatown an historic storefront conceals the secrets of Sai Woo. Our modern dining room serves globally-inspired cuisine created with fresh ingredients and surprising, lighthearted twists. Cocktails are crafted with precision using top-shelf liquors, fine teas, and exotic fruits. The original Sai Woo Chop Suey first opened its doors in 1925 and flourished as a local hangout for decades, preserving some of Vancouver’s oldest history. Our location is also remembered as the popular New Town Bakery but today, Sai Woo brings new life to this historical landmark with a modern and innovative menu.

We offer a 113-seat main floor dining area, bar, and Chef’s Table with a 75-seat lower lounge and bar, designed by the masterminds at Falken Reynolds along with Anna Walentowicz at Domain Creative. Restaurateur and owner Salli Pateman, formerly of Yaletown’s Section (3) of 18 years, has immeasurable industry experience with a solid team of expertise at her side. Award winning bartender Justin Anello oversees the bar, Shilo Francis and Tracey Page manage the front-of-house and Chef Keev Mah leads the kitchen.
