With our city now so laughably unaffordable, thousands of Vancouverites are stuck imagining wonderful homes instead of living in them. “Spaced” is a record of our minds wandering the world of architecture and design, up and away from the unrewarding realities of shoebox condos, dark basement suites, and sweet fuck all on Craigslist.

(via) This stunning, prairie-style 1960s home located outside Laval, Quebec was recently given a thorough going over by Montreal firm Architecture Open Form and the interior specialists at FX Studio Design. Their brief? Update the joint without making it unrecognizable to the occupants — the same family that has owned the place since it was first built. The open concept interior is pretty slick, but the facet that attracts us most of all is the cedar-shielded outdoor terrace with its lounge, kitchen, dining area, and sunken hot tub (the latter making the entirety useful year round, and damn the blowing snow!). We’ll take ours in a secluded corner of the North Shore, somewhere suitably level, leafy, and largely left alone. Photos by Adrien Williams, courtesy of v2com.
