The GOODS from Joy Road Catering

Penticton, BC | Ever dreamed of spending a summer in the pastoral sunny Okanagan Valley? Do you like cooking in a wood fired oven or over charcoal in a vineyard looking out over the lake? Want to work with impeccable organic produce & get to know dozens of local Okanagan farmers? Do you want to rub shoulders with winemakers & taste crazy back vintages or brand new wines before they are released? Any desire to raise a piggy for the summer & learn how to make charcuterie? Do you dig sitting your bum in the sand and dipping in the lake after your work day?

Team JRC is hiring for the 2016 season (May 1st- Thanksgiving). We’re looking for an office/event manager and seasoned cooks interested in living a summer in the beautiful Okanagan. Email resumes & references should be sent to eat [at] joyroadcatering.com, or call 250-493-8657 for further information.

So what the heck do we do out here anyway? We host Sunday & Thursday long table vineyard dinners cooking in a rather magnificent fully equipped outdoor kitchen. We cook for many wineries and on farms everywhere between the earth and the sky in the Similkameen and Okanagan Valleys. We also bake artisan sourdough breads & pastries for the farmers’ market.

“Joy Road Catering Smith and Ewart call their food cuisine du terroir, and with good reason. Tonight’s menu begins with home made bread made from organic Canadian wheat and antipasti, including local goat cheese and fresh figs- all of it washed down with Okanagan Blue Mountain Brut.” – Amy Rosen | The National Post

“If eating alfresco is the key- then the hottest dinner ticket all summer long was a seat at one of Cameron and Dana’s Sunday dinners on God’s Mountain…” – Rhonda May | City Food

“Cameron Smith and Dana Ewart are two enterprising Torontonians who used to work for uber chef Chris McDonald at the former Avalon restaurant. They were attracted to the nascent food and wine scene in the Okanagan and opened Joy Road Catering to showcase the area’s food and wine […] We attended a wine maker’s dinner at an eclectic inn called God’s Mountain Estate situated on a cliff overlooking Skaha Lake. Dana and Cam matched the exceptional but simple food with very credible wines from Wild Goose Winery.” – Lucy Waverman | The Globe & Mail
