The editor took to twitter to offer an embarrassing non-apology, and twitter reacted accordingly:

The replies are pretty priceless. The so-called statement is less an explanation and more an exercise in circular, self-justifying rhetoric. Read it and weep.

But hey, at least we’re cool again: With the Rise of Justin Trudeau, Canada Is Suddenly…Hip?. Wow, The New York Times turned into TMZ so fast that I hardly noticed.

It’s not like the CBC’s cutesy journalism is any better: Casey and Finnegan of Mr. Dressup alive and well on Hornby Island. Just wondering, did Casey creep the fuck out of anyone else or was that just me?

There are some west coast things you’d want to export to the rest of the continent, and some you don’t. Case in point: The Cactus Club has landed in Toronto. So has its slapdash, low-rent menu. “The problems begin when the company wraps all that mass-market mediocrity in a veil of high-minded excellence, when it tries to pass itself off as an icon of ‘creative fine dining’.”
