The GOODS from Maenam

Vancouver, BC | On January 31, Maenam’s Chef Angus An welcomes special guests Chef Antonio Park of Montreal restaurants Park and Lavanderia, and sommelier Kurtis Kolt, for a one-of-a-kind dinner of spicy Asian cuisine paired with four vintages of Château de Fargues aged sauternes. Additional indulgences await; guests will be welcomed with chilled champagne, and later in the evening, Chef Angus will pour a special vintage Bordeaux from his private collection: a 1995 Tertre Rotebeouf St Emilion Grand Cru. For fans of food and wine, this is a don’t-miss event.

Chef Antonio Park is known for his ability to seamlessly meld world cuisines. He comes by his inspiration honestly; after being raised in Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil, by Korean parents, he lived in Japan for several years before moving to Canada. At his Montreal restaurants, Park and Lavanderia, and his organic food market Marché Park, he goes to great lengths to work with the freshest ingredients possible, offering from-scratch products and precise cooking. He is also known for his role as a judge on Food Network’s TV show, Chopped Canada.

Kurtis Kolt is a wine writer, consultant, and an award-winning sommelier. He has been profiled in Wine Enthusiast Magazine, has run the program for an evening at New York’s James Beard House, and has been a tasting panel participant at Wine & Spirits Magazine. He has numerous certifications and credits through London’s Wine & Spirit Education Trust, the Court of Master Sommeliers, and the Winemaking Program at UC Davis.

Very limited space is available for this special evening. Tickets are $225 per guest, including tax and gratuity, but exclusive of ticketing fees. The five-course dinner will begin with canapés served at 6:30pm. To reserve a seat, click here to purchase via Event Brite.

The cuisine at Maenam is rooted in balancing intense fresh flavours with seasonal ingredients and locally sourced products, while always considering the context within which these dishes would traditionally be enjoyed. Simplicity, innovation and balance are the key ingredients in chef Angus An’s philosophy behind the authentic Thai dishes served at Maenam. With inspiration found in continuous travel, the menu at Maenam is ever-changing but always served with Thai flare and enjoyed in its traditional context, be it family style dining or riffs on Thai street food.
