Winestains Wine Academy has launched their winter schedule of WSET classes and with it, classes that cater to the industry professional. Along with night classes and full day intensives, we offer classes during the day for those who work nights.

“I remember how important my free evenings were when I worked nights,” said Keith Nicholson, Director of Education for Winestains Wine Academy. “We offer afternoon classes so one could make it to their evening shift or simply enjoy their free evenings”. Winestains Wine Academy is for people who love wine, want to learn, and have fun tasting.

Among our certified courses, we host weekly wine events from casual tastings and informative seminars to extravagant dinners for everyone from the relaxed fan to the expert collector.

Keith Nicholson | Director of Education | [email protected]

Keith is the Nominated Instructor and Director of Education at Winestains Wine Academy. He holds his WSET Level 4 Diploma as well as Sommelier Diploma from the International Sommelier Guild (ISG). Other wine education activities include Certified Spirits Specialist with Society of Wine Educators, Introductory to Wine Making via correspondence from UCDavis, and Working three months on the crush crew during harvest 2010, at Laughing Stock Winery, Naramata British Columbia.

Outside of teaching, Keith has spent his entire career in hospitality and wine. Many years of managing restaurants and holding positions of Wine Director at some of BC ’s best restaurants such as the Bearfoot Bistro in Whistler and Le Crocodile in Vancouver. He has also spent recent years in the capacity of on-premise sales representative for wine companies such as Seacove Wine and Trialto.

Keith is also on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers for British Columbia, (CAPS BC). A founding board member in April 2014, CAPS BC holds the Best Sommelier in BC competition. Keith is the Director of Communications and PR and will be in such capacity thru 2018 when the Best Canadian Sommelier Competition will be held here in Vancouver.

Calling all wine enthusiasts, be it novice or expert wine geeks, you now have a place to drink, socialize and geek out and learn from the best! Winestains Wine Academy host a variety of events throughout the month ranging from certified classes, wine tastings, informative seminars to extravagant dinners. We have events for everyone from the relaxed fan to the expert collector.

Our students typically are people who truly love wine and hospitality staff furthering their career with more industry certification. Our schedule includes a variety of class times to fit everyone. We have evening classes, full day intensives, and afternoon classes to fit the hospitality employee that works nights. We are an Approved Program Provider for Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) levels 1 to 3 and also teach levels 1 to 2 in Mandarin. Our director of Education Keith Nicholson spent decades in the restaurant industry, overseeing famous restaurants known for their wine.

Winestains Wine Academy is associated with Winestains Club and with Richmond Wine Lockers, the latter which occupies the first floor. Richmond Wine Lockers is a dedicated space for safe, proper, wine collection storage for private collectors, restaurants and other businesses. As an event space, the upstairs has kitchen facilities, tasting bar, and can entertain groups from 20 people boardroom style to 100 stand-up.

Winestains Wine Academy is conveniently located just two blocks from the River Rock Casino Skytrain station, across the street from Costco and just an 18 minute skytrain from Downtown Vancouver.
