Heather, The | Colloquialism, Nickname | How locals refer to The Irish Heather, the popular gastropub located at 210 Carrall St. in the heart of Gastown. It is a clearer patronymic than the full name, as the establishment is owned by one Sean Heather. Though long a fixture of the block, “The Heather” has only been in its current location since 2010, when it moved from its original address – 217 Carrall St. – across the street (now L’Abattoir). As was the case at the original location, there is a whiskey bar called The Shebeen tucked away in the very back.
