Vancouver, BC | Espana is looking for a chef de cuisine to run the day to day operations of the kitchen as we lead into another busy summer. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious, hungry sous chef or someone with experience in running a busy, high volume restaurant to take the next step I their career. The right candidate must have had at least 2 years in a sous chef position or higher in solid, quality restaurants using fresh ingredients, have a good knowledge of butchery and fish preparation, a sound background in food costing and managing a kitchen and above all passion and knowledge of Spanish food and it’s influences. Working with executive Chef/owner Neil Taylor you will be part of creating an ever changing menu of tapas style plates that will change with the seasons using the best of B.C and the best imported Spanish ingredients. We are also looking to hire two line cooks. The first position would be for someone with a minimum of 2 years experience of cooking the hot line in solid, quality restaurants who feels comfortable on the stove and can cook good food at a fast pace. The second position is more junior and would suit a recently graduated culinary student looking for their first position or someone with experience on Garde Manger looking for a new challenge or a new experience cooking Spanish food. About Espana
España is a cozy and intimate forty seat restaurant that showcases flavours and wines from Spain. Chef Neil Taylor produces a menu of 40 or so tapas dishes that are created using a mix of locally sourced seasonal produce, meats and seafood, as well as ingredients imported from Spain. The menu changes weekly and specials such as Paella and tortilla change daily. The unpretentious atmosphere and warm ironwood bar, invite you to sample some of the many Spanish wines by the glass, along with sherries, beers and Spanish inspired cocktails. Located a block from popular English Bay, the no reservation policy translates into a swiftly moving line-up during peak dining periods. Open until 1am during the week and 2am on the weekends.
