#DressToTheNines

The GOODS from THISOPENSPACE

Vancouver, BC | You may have noticed we put fresh plants in the shop window at 434 Columbia this week and wedged the door open to catch the warm breeze drifting by. We’re riding off the high spirits of our SPACE PARTY and cruising into June. The pop-up lineup is hot with the best of furniture, footwear, swimwear and summer style working the pop-up shop circuit. Think high caliber design, launch parties and on-point brands that mark a smooth transition into the season of daylight savings. Check our upcoming calendar for the June pop-up lineup at The Playground. Heading into Summer, this is what’s good…

MAY 31-JUN 7 | #AzuzaDesign | Meet Louis Dombowsky, industrial designer and master craftsman based in Vancouver and the man behind #AzuzaDesign. The quickly emerging brand can be found in Kit + Ace stores across Canada. Three new dining tables alongside art and designed objects set a comfortable and paired-down living room atmosphere for this weeklong collection release. Cruise down to The Playground on opening night, Saturday May 30th, 8PM to meet the maker and a hot sampling of Vancouver’s design community. More info here…

JUN 10-14 | #BalsamAndVine | The best boho bazaar in #yvr is happening this month down in Chinatown put on by the eclectic fashion retailer #BalsamAndVine. Get your fill of pre-summer bohemia woven with hints of modern minimalism. Shop printed textiles, rare sculptures direct from SE Asia, aromatherapy and select vintage denim. Former Aritzia production manager and style maven Robynne Leibenberg brings hand picked treasures to the bazaar this month. Opening night party, 434 Columbia Thursday June 11th, 6:30PM – 11PM. Postmark beer on site. More info here…

JUN 19-21 | #elpopup | Baja California Sur inspired brands Zii Ropa and Acuarela Swimwear arrive direct from turquoise and terra cotta studio settings in Mexico. Check out these two brands at #elpopop and meet the designers behind these labels. Shop for a new semi-scandalous bikini or a light shift direct from Baja at 434 Columbia. You just can’t get these in Vancouver. What’s the trending Baja swim culture hashtag? #livemorewearless. Brilliant. They nailed it. More info here…

JUN 22 | #DressToTheNines | Vancouver gals Cassie & Ricci are the driving force behind the wildly popular @wearetothe9s. They rock how-to videos on styling, make-up rituals, and accessorizing or in short, ‘haul’ videos. You know about the haul phenomenon? This duo is inviting pals new and old to the one-day meet and greet. We love their drive. Can we say the overhaul generation has arrived? Catch them at The Playground June 22nd. More info here…

About thisopenspace

TOSc-JR-12touched-up-585x389

thisopenspace is a full-service pop-up production agency. Their flagship storefront in Chinatown is an idea playground and a pop-up ready space. It’s where they have hosted over 70 pop-up concepts since 2012. But there is so much more…

POP-UP READY SPACES
Empty space sucks and space for short-term use is rare. We help clients find flexible space and open underutilized space for temporary use. We’ve done this around Vancouver neighbourhoods including Mount Pleasant, Gastown, South Granville, and Fraserhood. Do you have or need space for temporary use? Contact us.

PROMOTION AND PRESS RELATIONS
It ain’t a party if no one shows up. We provide promotion and press relations exclusively to short term pop-up shops, exhibitions, and events. Whether it’s happening at one of our spaces or not, we help clients connect with their audience. Here’s the proof.

AN ENGAGED AUDIENCE
A pop-up is a limited time offer and we make sure that clients get noticed by an engaged audience that we’ve built over the last two years. This includes over 1000+ subscribers to our monthlycoolkids newsletter, 3000+ Instagram, 1900+Facebook, and 1500+ Twitter followers. We leverage our audience and get clients noticed.

EVENT PRODUCTION
Over the past two years, we’ve seen the best and the less than stellar. We know the elements that make a pop-up event successful and those to avoid. Our team has a track record of producing successful retail, food, and entertainment events. We design unique and memorable experiences.

ACCOLADES
“The incredibly successful rotating pop-up shop that offers people the chance to try out a storefront” – Vancouver Sun, August 2014
