The GOODS from Wolf In The Fog

Tofino, BC | Are you ready to Feast with Wolf in the Fog and friends? Tofino’s annual boat-to-table food festival will be taking place between May 8-24 and the team at Wolf in the Fog, Air Canada enRoute’s 2014 Canada’s Best New Restaurant, are hosting two very special guests as part of the festivities.

Kicking off with the popular 2nd Annual Boat to Tailgate party on May 8, Feast Tofino highlights the community’s culinary scene and the town’s beautiful location on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

For one night only, on May 13, Executive Chef Joël Watanabe from Bao Bei Chinese Brasserie in Vancouver’s Chinatown will be joining Chef Nick Nutting in the Wolf kitchen to create special dishes that draw on both of their unique influences. Chef Watanabe incorporates the classic French and Japanese culinary techniques of his heritage at Bao Bei to create a modern twist on Chinese food inspired by Taiwan, Shanghai and the Sichuan province. Chef Nutting will complement these influences with his focus on fresh Tofitian ingredients and locally foraged finds. Chef Watanabe’s dishes will appear as specials on the Wolf menu so tickets are not required but reservations are advised. Call 1-250-725-WOLF (9653) to book your table.

On May 22, Chef David Hawksworth of Vancouver’s Hawksworth Restaurant will be bringing a taste of his contemporary Canadian cuisine to Tofino for one special formal dinner. Walk the red carpet, join in a champagne toast and listen to the operatic harmonies of musical guests Elysium III and Julian Smith. London based wine guru Tom Harrow will be pairing wines with the six-course meal and tickets cost $150 for the evening. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketfly via the Feast Tofino website or by calling the restaurant at 1-250-725-WOLF (9653).

During Feast Tofino festival, the downstairs Den will host special happy hours on Saturday afternoons from 4-5.30pm. Each will showcase a local Vancouver Island distillery in a feature punch and cocktail created by bar manager Hailey Pasemko and a representative from the distillery will be on hand to talk about their spirits. Participating distilleries will be: Phillip’s Fermentorium (May 9), Victoria Spirits (May 16) and Ampersand Distilling Co (May 23). Light canapés will be served with the cocktails, which will be available for purchase at the bar.

Wolf in the Fog will join the community in celebrating the end of the festival at the Tofino Dockside Festival on May 23. For more information visit the official Feast website: www.feasttofino.com.

Wolf in the Fog is open 11am-5pm for lunch and 5pm until midnight for dinner. The Den is open for coffee and pastries from 6am and lunch and dinner menus are also available downstairs. Please call 1-250-725-WOLF (9653) or visit www.wolfinthefog.com for reservations.

About Wolf In The Fog

14327369930_64c1284690_k

Wolf in the Fog’s culinary influence lies with the local fishermen and foragers, providing a magnificent array of produce from Tofino’s doorstep. Fresh seafood and fish is complemented by meat and grain from Vancouver Island farmers and wild greens and mushrooms foraged from the plentiful forests and seashores of Tofino.

The ingredients land in the skillful and confident hands of Chef Nick Nutting and his team. Capturing the raw vitality of Tofino, Chef Nick Nutting’s seasonal menu – focusing on family style and encouraging guests to engage with the dishes – reflects the allure of Tofino itself: honest, rustic and at the very end of the road. Bold flavours, simple preparation and honed techniques blend to create a menu brimming with passion and verve.

Wolf in the Fog’s cocktail program echoes the Tofitian cuisine prepared by the restaurant team. Signature cocktails crafted by Bar Manager Hailey Pasemko incorporate wild and homegrown ingredients like native berries and cedar and include large format cocktails to match share platters. The carefully curated wine program features British Columbia wines by the glass, a blend of international and homegrown wines by the bottle, and rare and exceptional bottle on the Owner’s Selection wine list. Lastly to the taps – try a selection of beers from local craft breweries such as Tofino Brewing Co., Driftwood Brewing Co. and Hoyne Brewing Co.

Downstairs, The Den offers coffee and freshly baked pastries in the morning, as well as a variety of gourmet sandwiches on artisan breads, fresh from the Wolf in the Fog kitchen.

The interior of Wolf in the Fog is intended to mirror Tofino’s striking natural environment, while retaining a warm and welcoming character. Features include a natural and reclaimed wood structure with modern industrial touches, a beautiful 14-foot feature communal table and original artworks from acclaimed local and international artists.
