Sponsored by Okanagan Crush Pad, this is a mentorship program designed to further individual study in wine education. The winery provides an annual Scholarship of $5000 to the BC Hospitality Foundation towards wine studies. Three $1000.00 scholarships are awarded every year, which are currently open for applications and are presented in April. The other $2000 assists Vancouver’s Sommelier of the Year, as chosen by the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers – British Columbia Chapter (CAPSBC), with travel costs associated with the national finals. In addition to that, Okanagan Crush Pad invites Vancouver’s Sommelier of the Year to make 100 cases of wine in Summerland, proceeds of which are donated to the Foundation.

To enter, you will need:

(1) A 500 word essay on why you need and deserve a $1000 scholarship
(2) Academic transcripts – WSET or ISG
(3) 2 (Two) reference letters from non-family members
(4) Cover letter

Scholarship applications go to an eight member industry committee for review. Scholarships are open to anyone working in the industry in British Columbia. Our committee chooses three scholarship winners. Winners will be notified, in writing, in April each year. The awards will be presented at the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards in April.
