(via) Check out the teaser trailer for “Somm: Inside the Bottle”, the highly anticipated follow-up to the 2012 Jason Wise-directed documentary film, Somm.
In this teaser trailer, watch as industry experts open bottles of rare wine to explain the aging process, describe what happens in the cellar, and both praise and critique the wine industry. Follow the history of wine from “the Romans, to Prohibition, to the World Wars… to the Napa Earthquake.”
Featured sommeliers/Master Sommeliers include Brian McClintic (Les Marchands, Santa Barbara), DLynn Proctor, Dustin Wilson (Eleven Madison Park, NYC), Ian Cauble, Fred Dame, Geoff Kruth, Sabato Sagaria. Featured vintners include Jean Louis Chave, Peter Gago (Penfolds Wines), and Steve Matthiasson (Matthiasson Winery).
Says Peter Goldwyn, Senior Vice President of Samuel Goldwyn Films in a release: “Somm was and continues to be an ‘essential’ viewing for the wine industry, as well as a completely entertaining film for people who know nothing about the business or what it is they’re even drinking!” Goldwyn will host event screenings across the country “to build buzz leading to [the film’s] release.” Specific dates and locations will be announced in the coming months.
The new film should be in theatres later in the year. If you didn’t catch the original documentary – which details a group of professional sommeliers as they prepare for their gruelling Master of Wine exams – you really should. It’s riveting, and currently screening on Netflix.
