Vancouver, BC | With the holiday season fast approaching, the team at Parallel 49 Brewing Company has been getting into the spirit by brewing and bottling Ugly Sweater Milk Stout, a seasonal favourite back by popular demand.

Parallel 49 Brewing Company’s Ugly Sweater Milk Stout is a sweeter tasting stout inspired by classic English beer. The Milk Stout receives its name, and its aftertaste, from the milk sugars (lactose) added during the brewing process. The sweetness imparted from the lactose is perfectly balanced by flavors of roasted malt. Creamy notes of caramel and subtle accents of chocolate and coffee make Ugly Sweater Milk Stout the perfect beer to enjoy during the holiday season and cooler months.

Ugly Sweater Milk Stout is the official beer of The Get Ugly Grant Wishes Movement. Parallel 49 Brewing Company will donate $1 for every 6 pack and $25 for each 50 liter keg of Ugly Sweater Milk Stout sold during December 2014 to the Now That’s Ugly Society in support of The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.

“We’re always happy to bring back the Ugly Sweater Milk Stout in celebration of the holiday season and being able to be a part of this year’s Get Ugly Grant Wishes movement makes it even better,” said Graham With, head brewmaster at Parallel 49 Brewing Company. “The holiday season is a great time to give back and we are really looking forward to supporting The Now That’s Ugly Society and The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada through the sales of Ugly Sweater Milk Stout and our upcoming #GetUglyGrantWishes events!”

As part of the #GetUglyGrantWishes movement, Parallel 49 Brewing Company is sponsoring a series of events throughout December to raise funds for The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada. The Ugly Christmas Sweater Dash, sponsored by Parallel 49 Brewing Company, will take place on Saturday, December 13th from 11 am until 2 pm. The 5K #UglyDash will begin at Olympic Village Square. Don’t miss the official after party starting at 6pm at the Vancouver Giants Game, where attendees will be able to take photos in the Grandma’s Living Room Photo Booth in the Pacific Coliseum Eastside Fan Zone with puck drop to follow at 7pm. So come get a little bit of cardio, enjoy a beer and take in a hockey game while supporting a great cause!

PRESS & Accolades

“The Parallel 49 Brewing Co. opened on Triumph Street a year ago, and has bubbled up as vigorously as the 30 or so weirdly named beers from its six 5,000-litre and eight 10,000-litre tanks. Weird? How about Banana Hammock? Salty Scot? Lost Souls? Hoparazzi? Ugly Sweater? Schadenfreude? The latter word refers to the pleasure in seeing others fail. That certainly wouldn’t apply to Anthony Frustagli, Nick Paladino, Mike Sleeman and Scott Venema, who own the St. Augustine’s restaurant and craft-beer mecca, and Michael Tod and Graham With who joined them to found Parallel 49.” – Malcolm Parry, The Vancouver Sun

“It’s always exciting to see a new craft beer maker pop up in Vancouver; it’s even more exciting to see a brewery push boundaries, take risks and create new and interesting flavour combinations. Expect to see bold choices coming from Parallel 49 in the future.” – Ryan Tessier, Vancity Buzz

“Having an understanding of the science of brewing has almost certainly enabled Parallel 49 to achieve consistency in its product, even with the brewery in a state of near-constant expansion.” – Jan Zeschky, The Province
