The GOODS from Blue Mountain
Okanagan Falls, BC | We are pleased to announce the release of our 2013 Gamay Noir and Pinot Gris. Bright fruit and complex flavours characterize the 2013 vintage. If you find yourself in the Okanagan Valley we welcome you to visit the winery to taste and pick up your 2013 vintage wines. The 2013 Gamay Noir ($22.90) displays good acidity and juicy raspberry flavours, with notes of black currant and a long, spicy finish. Its balanced structure will allow the wine to age for 4-6 years. The 2013 Pinot Gris ($20.90) has a citrus, mandarin, orange nose with rich dense orange and lemon flavours across the palate with notes of orange peel and spice on the finish. The structure of the wine will allow it to age beautifully for 4-6 years.
Vineyard update: We have begun to see veraison in the vineyard, the onset of ripening of the fruit and taking on the colours characteristic of their specific varietals.

About Blue Mountain
Blue Mountain is a family run vineyard and winery located in the picturesque South Okanagan Valley, overlooking Vaseaux Lake. The Mavety family has farmed this fertile bench since 1971 and founded the winery in 1991, with a commitment to sustainable viticulture practices and using exclusively estate-grown grapes.
The Philosophy
Blue Mountain strives to produce complex, age-worthy wines, consistent in style while allowing the expression of both the terroir and the individual season. The grapes that are harvested for Blue Mountain wines are sourced solely from its own vineyard. In the winery, Matt combines new technology with traditional techniques. The wines are handled minimally to ensure that the delicacy and intensity of flavours cultivated in the vineyard are expressed in the wine. French oak barrels are used in the cellar to soften and add complexity. All of these factors combine to result in a style and finesse fitting to the varietals. The 12,000-case yearly production consists of Pinot Noir, Gamay Noir, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and a méthode traditionnelle sparkling wine, all from estate grown grapes.
